It's a confidence issue, we were getting results with the 'mediocre' players and doing fine with consecutive good results. We also can't replace Quagliarella with an equal player.

Personally I find it difficult to go from applause to slander depending on results from a moment of confidence to one with none.

Being 6th and crashing out of the Europa League without one win against scrubs teams while also getting eliminated in Coppa Italia. That is not getting results and doing fine.

You kidding? So you don't think Afellay would be good for us? Antonelli? Rakitic? Emanuelson? FFS we're not a good team! Many players would make our team.
Those and a thousand other players would all get in our team on current status, but strangely not when we were 3rd. That's a bunch of average-decent players who would be squad players at a top club. I'd take another left back right now, but I don't see any huge improvement on De Ceglie pre-injury right there. Maybe we should make more of these signings, €25m + €20m wages padding the squad out. But then in the next breath it'll be said how we lack quality.

I've already had my say on the EL and obviously I was talking about two months ago, sparky.

Look I know Secco had his bad times but at least he tried and had good intensions when signing many of the players he did. Sure, I'm aware of the fact that most of his signings were bad but many of his signings had ambitions. Marotta on the other hand signed us a lot of players who weren't doing well before joining us.

Tiago = Star in a winning Lyon before we got him.
Andrade = One of the best CB's in La Liga.
Iaquinta = A great 3rd choice who came from a 17 goals season.
Amauri = Wanted by all the big teams in Italy and we managed to beat them off.
Diego = Our dream signing at the time
Melo = A great season with Viola, quality signing.
Poulsen = The best defensive midfielder in Spain before signing for us.

And then also bringing back guys like Giovinco and Marchisio.

Marotta on the other hand..

Luca Toni = Unwanted by Genoa, shit before arriving. Old..
Barzagli = Not wanted by Wolfsburg
Aquilani = Not wanted. Benched, flopped and injured in Liverpool
Traore = Benched in Arsenal
Quag = Would have been benched if he stayed with Napoli with Cavani arriving.
Motta = Benched for Roma
Rinaudo = ???
Martinez = Who is he? Not many people knew much about the player we just spent 12 million on although he's been playing in Serie A.

Then obviously there is good signings like Krasic, Bonucci and Storari.

The important thing is, you can't sign all these struggling players and expect the team to perform well. We're getting what we payed for. Next Summer he needs to get us some good players, players who aren't struggling and players who are doing well in their teams before joining us.

I don't know where to even start with that post. The extremely biased positive/negative review of the players is pretty hilarious though.

Secco is a moron. Let's first be clear about that. He was given an incredible amount of money considering our position and wasted most of it. Of that list of his one player was a marginal success (Iaquinta) and one has potential to be (Melo). Just that list cost €115m in transfer fees alone!!! ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN MILLION EUROS. Add in wages and it is another €25m per season. I'll be fair and add in sales. During Secco's 4 year spell we spent around €95m NET on transfer fees alone.

I'm not pro-Moggi in any way, but as he pointed out on Secco's spending, anyone can spend €25m on Melo, €23m on Amauri, that's not competence, that's getting ripped off. Put me in charge and I can be 'ambitious' with €100m to spend. I could also be fucking useless, like Secco.

So now Marotta comes in with a low budget and he has no ambition?

I never said anything about money, all I said was that he had ambitions with SOME of his signings. I know he was an idiot and that he spent too much on some transfers and wages to some players. But the transfers I mentioned were good before joining us. Why Tiago wasn't as good with us as he was with Lyon or why Poulsen wasn't a good DM anymore is not Secco's fault.

Low budget? We're talking about it as if he didnt' have money at all. He spent money and he will probably spend more money on many of the players we've loaned next summer.

At the end of the day, most of his signings are basically bench warmers or unwanted players from other teams.

We didn't really suffer, it was just our game plan to let roma have possession and do nothing with it.
How did you know what our game plan was? Didn't it occur to you that we couldn't have possession and couldn't try do anything about it which resulted in being owned at our home turf? Thus making the opposition a stronger one. No matter what you say you cannot convince anyone that our squad is a better one than Roma's.

Sabatini and Marino are both out of work and would be fucking awesome. I'd keep Marotta as a DG though.
What for? In a season or two they will be blamed for horrible signings. Rinse and repeat.

Marotta wont be going anywhere in a few seasons atleast. We wont put our blame down to him, infact it will be pushed under the carpet. Some money will be given to him to buy and a new set of hope will revolve around the club once again. The words building for 4th spot will be used.

That's the spin you put on it but you choose to ignore;
No CL football.
No limitless wages like Secco - he didn't even have to negotiate.
Less money for transfer fees.

Marotta makes an error and it costs us €0.5m - €5m. Secco makes an error and it costs us €15m - €30m. I'm sure you can see what I mean here.

I'm tired with playing devil's advocate in regards to Marotta, I can't say I'm particularly impressed with how things have turned out overall, but in August I was and still think he brought the right type of players in for us. The biggest mistakes weren't signings but who was let go, and his hand was often forced there.

It really is too bad because our season could have been turned around literally for free. His name is Antonio Cassano and we should have fucking brought that mother fucker here for NOTHING. Between Secco and Marotta that is by far the worst move I have ever seen, even worse than buying Amauri IMO. Second worst is continuously letting go of Giovinco.

Those two players (Gio and Cassano), had they have been playing yesterday the game would have been different because our possession would have improved along with opportunities. Gio is showing that he can even score goals.

Cassano for free would have given us money to buy one good outside back. We could have use the entire winter budget on 1 player as opposed to some between Luca Toni, another striker and a defender. Cassano for free would have meant we could have gone balls out on one more player this winter and gotten two (Cassano) and a great defender.
