Del Piero rues Coppa exit

Regret will be haunting Juventus this morning after last night’s Coppa Italia defeat, Alessandro Del Piero has intimated.

The Old Lady were knocked out of the competition on Thursday when Roma arrived in town and took home a 2-0 victory.

“We are obviously upset and we leave this match hugely disappointed,” Del Piero noted. “We played at home and it was a good opportunity to go through to the next round, but we didn’t take it.”

Juventus have had a tough start to 2011, winning two, drawing one and losing three games since the beginning of the year.

“We need to live this moment, reflect, think it over and try to amass all our energy to bring it out on the pitch against Udinese [on Sunday],” Del Piero added.

“We also hope that Amauri, Simone Pepe and Marco Motta, who tonight were forced to go off, have no serious injury problems.”

Del Piero also commented on his penalty shout where he fell under a challenge from Philippe Mexes.

“For me it was a penalty and it would have changed the game,” the Italian noted.

“But our game could have also been changed by taking advantage of so many free-kicks and crosses delivered into the box, but we failed to make the most of such opportunities.”

That's because our strikers blow and are completely useless. But let's go ahead and ignore this problem and get a replacement for Sissoko and buy more defenders.

Nedved hinted it, Del Piero just said it, we see it with our own eyes...wake up people, we need a striker MUCH MUCH more than full backs.

fourth spot talk is gone next year
aiming to become 3rd is 2012 :D
Milan, Roma, Inter, Juve, Napoli all challanging for the three spots in 2012
oh sugar, forgot about that. haha. So then this project is going to role for many seasons more, till we do a tunisian job and burn ourselves to overthrow this corrupt regime.

We didn't get Cassano for free... FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!! How the fuck do you miss out on an opportunity like this?
Not only did we not take the opportunity to get a great player to make our team better we allowed Milan to get soooo much stronger with that signing. We really screwed ourselves for the long run. Milan have the best attack for the next 3 years easily, with Inter right behind them and money to burn, Roma have 2 great attackers, Napoli have a great attack as well...and our answer is luca toni.

We should have fucking brought Dzeko this summer and Krasic next year. Our goal should have been a world class striker.

He is no better than Secco, they both sucks big time.
Marotta isn't really special, maybe he's bad. However, no one is worse or on par with Alessio Secco! Secco has managed to waste ~100 million euros to build the weakest Juve side in history. When Moggi was around, Juve used to spend much less and were on top of the world.

Cassano wasn't free but I understand your point, he guarantees class. I can see why he ended up at Milan instead of Juve though, and it's not down to perceived 'incompetence', that's a choice our guys made.

Bottom line is, the more we sign players like Luca toni and try for flores, etc the more we will have to spend to catch back up while Inter and AC are both doing things right.

We are trying to find cheap alternatives to patch holes but ignoring the fact that for us to catch back up in quality only gets more expensive with each bad signing we make.

It's not as if our main mercato would ever centre around signings like Toni and Floro Flores, they are just stop gaps in an injury crisis. We did our spending in the summer, the same as most clubs.

Why the fuck wasn't Cassano stop gap in our injury crisis? Even if he wasn't free, 5 mill is peanuts, sell Sissoko for 5 mill and get Cassano. I don't care!
Its fucking frustrating missing out on Cassano.

Stop gap or not, Cassano should have been first on the list. He would have walked into this team and instantly produced. For the same price we have a Luca Toni out for a month and by the time he gets back our strikers will be back (except for Quag)

You'd have to ask Delneri and Marotta, but it seems obvious that his temperament was the issue. This was a guy with break down after break down, getting kicked out of Sampdoria. He suits the individuality and egos of Milan, they can get away with that, our guys obviously think that we couldn't. We'll never know. He guarantees quality and zero stability.

Zebina and Montero were crazy figures. One would do the dumbest shit while the other would collect red cards like antiques. Stability or not, both when playing well brought us to another level. That's what I want...a little more class and less stability is fine with me.

What is funnier is that Milano got Emmanuelson, van Bommel and Cassano for something round 5M COMBINED

Emmanuelson, 1.3 or 1.7M - on par with Pepe as a winger imo, Pepe costed/going to cost us more
Van Bommel, peanuts probably free, huge wage yes but one of the best solutions for their CM problems.
Cassano, that 5M got shared by three parties. Cassano self, Milano and Samp.

Four a couple seasons of instability, cassano can provide stable table finishes. He's like ibra imo. He can carry a team on his shoulders and with this Juve probably to a Scudetto come next season.

Ibrahimovic is 1000 times stronger mentally than Cassano. Just because he has a temper doesn't mean he is going to turn into a blubbering wreck any second. Probably a scudetto? Only a possibility.

Yet Marotta spends the money the best according to majority here with paying 22M for our left wing and Marchisio is getting played there.
