I can understand selling Diego if he wasn't first choice pick for DN (even though he was our best player so far this pre-season) but to sell him for around 16-17 millions when we brought him just a year ago for 25 millions !!

Thats almost 8-9 million lost in that move alone (an 8 or 9 million can easily buy us a really decent fullback that we all been hoping for specially with the shortage of money at this club right now)

Not just that, we're just days away from the end of the mercato and it is pretty hard to replace a player like him right now.

Are we really that desperate to sell him for a loss ?!! This move just makes no sense IMO and it reminds me so much of Inter's transfers before the calciopoli

yeap...and even if we want to sell him why we not do that earlier?at least we still had enough time to find great player to replace him..why they talk shit and crap about Diego is staying an suddenly close to the end of mercato and "BANNGGG" Diego is leaving. I really hope Marotta really have a plan for this

The Bianconeri look to make last ditch move to secure a defender or two before the end of the transfer window....

Juventus continue to scout out potential new defenders for the coming season and according to Calcioblog, are expected to announce the arrivial of a French based player over the weekend, after failing to persuade Nicolas Burdisso to switch from Roma.

The club are set to sign French-born Tunisia international Yohan Benalouane of St Etienne. The transfer of the powerful 23-year old is being tipped to be made official tomorrow after the player was courted by clubs in the English Premier League earlier in the summer.

The fee is considered to be reasonably cheap, around €1 million plus bonuses, and personal terms are expected to cause no problems in order to push the move through before the end of the transfer window.

Meanwhile Joan Capdevila is an imminent arrival in Turin for the Old Lady. Reports in Spain believe that the Villarreal left back has already agreed on a deal to wear the Juve shirt next season.

I think Grosso would still work fine in a 3 -5 -2 the trouble with him is, he when exposed one on one he is useless. You need to play a decent tempo so that he is running at other teams defences, and at the moment we dont have the tempo.

Im not to sure of Capdevila though...

This disastrous persistence on Italians will be our bane.
But i have reasons to believe that it wasnt marotta's choice. It was imposed to him to act likewise, because our management want this ita-juve, probably sensing that this will bring in more income by capturing the interest of the italian fans. Of course this will compromise our chances to win any titles, but this doesnt seem possible anyway.
So the choice is made to secure funds, even if we have to sacrifice quality and chances to win anything. Marotta does not have the authority to make such a strategical decision, him and del neri were obviously hired to construct ital-juve, competitiveness seem to be a lesser issue for our management.
I for one will not blame marotta for that and i believe it is wrong for everyone to do so. Considering what he was ordered to do and the mess Secco left, he did relatively well so far. It is a great handicap to build a great team with young overhyped italian players, atm with our limited funds, pitiful prestige and poor #
However, there are no excuses for the loughable amount we are about to earn from diego.
That alone proves how limited manager marotta is, he cant find such a talented player in such a price elsewhere, we are selling off big time and i see no particular reason for that. Same goes for giovinco, a decent manager ought to do better, we could easily keep them one more year, have their transfer value increased and sell them then, or simply put their names on the transfer list from the beggining of the transfer window and find more and better bids.
Thats 100*/* his fault and he has no excuses for that.
Also if he fails to complete the last minute lb deal he is planning.

What disgusts me about this guy is how delusional and pathetic he is. Quag coming in to replace Diego? Are you bloody serious? What is the point in dispersing scouts all over the globe, if 90% of our purchases are always going to be Italian?

I do understand that we are Juventus, and that we must have an Italian core, but having 6 Italians in the starting eleven is more than enough, particularly when the current talent pool in Italy is abysmal!

Only if you are comparing it to the Spainsh and German.

As for the rest of the world, like Italy the majority of the players are average just ok. The words 'World class' are used to often to describe players. The 1 EU ruling has screwed us without a doubt this mercato so you have to look at the alternatives at the moment.

It's 1 Non-Eu, which means we could've bought anyone from Holland, Germany, Spain, France, or Portugal. It also implies we could've acquired any South American with a European passport.

If Marrota was planning on selling Diego all along, why not go for someone like Ozil? He was available, and not that expensive.

I would have loved Ozil but i seriously doubt he would have signed for us knowing that Madrid wanted him....this is not FM you cannot just buy players because you want them, they sometimes dont want to come to us.

Agreed we could have bought players from around Europe, but i genuinely feel that Marotta and Del Neri have not had the time yet to scout, access the current squad, talk to the board regarding funds, then go through agents, and complete deals this all takes time.

I think if he can keep at least Marotta at the club for a couple of seasons we will reap the rewards. It isnt a bad mercato as of yet (though not great)!!

At the end of the day we are not in the champions league and that is a massive draw in for all the best players, and those players we would all love ie. D.Silvas etc are being snapped up by the like of Man City

ok there are plenty of those,and about letting them go,well that should be in the hands of our transfer guru,its all about negotiating,but before all that we gotta be at least be looking at them first..DN and Marotta however does not really like any non italian in serie a except for the obvious Martinez..
