Not sure but I remember you once calculated fees with a percent error of 30-40% and I think Hustini is referring to that
not true, i calculated the exact fees of the % of the players contracts we have forfeit for Bonucci (about 6-7mil) and the 15.5mil cash.
Added that and made the total fee Marotta paid for him (21.5-22.5 mil)
In the first months it was unclear if the percentage of the players we lost for Bonucci were 50% or 100% and the market value of the players we lost, was greatly underrated by our forumers. But in the coming months the situation got clear and i calculated the precise fee.
Point is, that 20+ mil for an unproven player like Bonucci was a huge mistake. Our board knew the exact fees we sacrificed for him and above Marotta.
It was his call, his mistake and thats why he is so hesitant to buy or even load other quality CB, because that way he would have to sell Bonucci and no one would ever pay, not even the half of what he gave, thus exposing his negotiation skills greatly.
Thats why he also preferred to loan out Martinez rather than selling him.
It was to admit his mistakes, he is turning into a new Secco and those mistakes add up.
The Grosso, Motta mistakes can be easily forgotten, but 15-25mil cant.
We hired him to avoid the 25 mil mistakes of the past (Amauri, Diego, Melo) not making new ones...
Marotta prolly hopes that by keeping him, we will be forced to field him, give more hopes and who knows, he might have a Pepe explosion.
Exactly the opposite strategy thats its valid for other layers who are not given that kind of chances...
