5/10 for me.

I was expecting to raise my rating to a 6 (if we could sell the deadwood), a 7 (if we ended up getting a proved LW) or even a 8 (if we eventually ended up with with Lugano or some high quality defender). I was expecting to lower my rating if we ended up loosing Sorensen.

Same here, too many question marks, no good CB, no sales. Generous 5.

By the way, I gave the same rating to the coach option.

Everything can happen in this season, be it bad or good. We start it with, at least, four question marks and that's not good at all for a team who can NOT fail to reach the third spot. Too much IFs in our coming season, so I can just hope that they turn out in our favour. I'd say we have luck about Inter's (coach and tactic) and Roma's (bunch of new youngsters and coach) situation, that is pretty much similar to ours, and also about Napoli's CL campaign.

no European football, always makes a mercato harder as players want to play at the highest level NOW,not next season.
we have addressed most of the issues of last season and strengthened the first 11 with players who are good enough for Serie A,no world beaters but then again we are not the most attractive proposition right now.
i would have liked to have ridden ourselves of some of the dead wood but given the fact that we still pay extremely good wages it is always hard to convince these players to leave without substantial benefits

in a way he is in a no-win situation,we don't have the funds or attraction of european football to seal deals for the very top players and those we are capable of signing do not excite the fans. we have a squad now capable of at least competing for and gaining CL football for next year, sadly this is our current level of ambition

dispelling the no CL myth:

We were top 3 as far as spending is concerned
Suarez to pool/ atletico Madrid
European football had nothing to do with marotta waiting to the last day to get alves who said he wanted to come here a month ago.

Please it's unfathomable not to come to terms with the FACT that marotta is provinciale
Deadwood- fail to see again how no CL interfered here

and yet...this is not enough for some people

Suarez to pool/ atletico Madrid
Liverpool were desperately throwing money around to appease the fans and still are

i won't dispute that he has been slow to react to this but then a lot of clubs play the "long game" during the transfer window just in case a player who wasn't for sale comes up in the last days

i never claimed that no CL stopped us clearing out the deadwood,i claimed that due to the fact we still pay good wages each and every one of them would require "remuneration" to get rid of them as they will almost certainly not get as good a deal elsewhere

We were the third bigger spenders of the summer. How do we have not the funds?

In a year that you see Pastore/Falcao moving to EL clubs (french league as well in Pastore's case), the attraction argument is pretty much flawed. I mean, we didn't even need to get a Pastore, but some more Lichts/Vidals/Vucinics (proven quality, not even much expensive) for the LB, CB and LW would be enough to guarantee a safe season. If we can't get WC players, we could always tried about WC coaches who, by the way, can attract WC players. Remember Carletto? Even Didier? Both at our reach, we just didn't went for them.
