Yea, that's still 2m less than what we paid for a Martinez, without even accounting for his salary. What guarantees did he bring?
there is no such thing as a garauntee but signing a youngster if you are....lets say,Arsenal and have a manager who is keen to introduce younsters into the first team then by all means go ahead
but if you are Juventus, who have a long policy of signing youngsters and NEVER giving them a chance, loaning them out all over the place and then using them in part exchange deals for players who are established,is it truly a wise decision to splash out a garaunteed 10m on a player that in all probablility will never get the chance to shine for us?

And he would come with a better alternative.

Marotta on the other hand goes for washed up players who share the same nationality as him.

"Santo Moggi" will wait and see how this kid develops and then

A- criticise Juventus for not taking a chance on the youngster that went on to become a star

or
B-critisize Juventus for chasing a young Brazillian that never made it while ignoring the good young Italian talent

either way Moggi wins

It's paying for potential and every business involves taking risk.

Nobody laughed and complained when Pato joined Milan at the same age and for higher wages.
Pato had played more than 0 games at club level, and had 8 in 12 for Brazil U20. At the same age, Piazon has made 1 appearance for Brazil U17.

Also, Pato hade 5 goals in 9 league games for his Brazilian club. Boyzone has shit.
Yes...10 matches, 6 goals.
Oh, I see. So because of that Milan paid 22mln euros for that transfer? And big wages too.

And yet again, nobody laughed back then. Now when we don't want to give 500k more for wages people say he's too young and how we couldn't 'beat' the competition.

Funny, but this way we'll never sign promising stars and eventually make a 30mln euros profit.

Moggi already told Juve not to take the risk at this kid. He isn't worth using so much money on right now. We need to spend our money more wisely as we have several positions to cover.

Pato showed more at that point and he was considered as a much bigger talent than Piazon right now. I just don't think he's important enough to spend all of that money on.
