Interesting how in his press statement today he said the Champions League is our #1 objective. Previously our management had always constantly claimed Serie A was our main objective and made it seem as if any progress in Champions league was just a bonus

That was said last season too and the purchase of Higuain proved that.

While everyone is on vacation for the holidays this man was already working on the squad for next season.

'Allegri fit Juventus profile'
By Football Italia staff

Beppe Marotta explained how Juventus went about replacing Antonio Conte with Max Allegri when pre-season training had already begun.

Conte had just won back-to-back Serie A titles when he decided to walk away in the summer of 2014 in a dispute over transfer strategy.

“It was a pretty difficult moment for us, because we terminated the contract with Conte by mutual consent in the second day of pre-season training,” director Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“We moved very quickly to resolve the issue and find a Coach who fit the profile of Juventus. We are a team behind the scenes who work together and tend to agree unanimously."

It was an unpopular decision at the time, as Allegri had been fired by Milan only five months earlier.

“At the time, not to diminish Allegri, there were precious few options available, but we did all decide unanimously that he personified the suitable profile of a Juventus Coach.

“Perhaps we ended up being fortunate in the circumstances that we got Massimiliano and he was available.”

Allegri has on occasion dropped big players, such as Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain, to make a point or get them back in shape.

“This is to the credit of President Andrea Agnelli, who gives his collaborators and Coach the freedom to make their decisions. Allegri proved he is not only up to the level of Juventus, but of the whole football scene.”

"Will Dybala stay at Juventus? Without a doubt...Juventus is a squad that only sells when the player asks to be sold."
