^^
No one is denying Marotta can make some excellent signings, it's his selling strategy which is concerning. Especially the way he is prepared to so readily give away anyone who simply "wants to leave."

Hopefully he learned from the summer that's just past. If he can iron out his selling strategy, then yes we do have arguably the best director of football

I dont know the meaning of hubris.

You mean his sales or buys ?
He thought too highly of himself (= hubris) this summer in the dealings. Set us back in recent actions and forming of this team, he was acting all calm and collected like he has the midas touch, when he just failed in his objectives.

i'm not sure where to stand at this point, because its easy to justify what he does without knowing his motive.

If they took a decision to significantly rejuvinate after key sales, and took in accound a possible serious fallback due to massive loss of experience and the risk of key injuries (kinda happened with khedira+marchisio=midfield rekt and morata+mandzukic=no clinical forwards), wich means the expectations were lower for this year as in "cl qualification and group stage progress". Then we kinda are still okay'ish

However, it seems more likely that they took the departure of tevez and vidal too lightly, and got that smashed in the face when we had key injuries wich we lost the cover for.

Luckely for all of us, we kinda got bailed about because Allegri found a way to create a massive potential frontline out of the untargetting aquisitions we did. Pretty certain that once we get marchisio, asamoah, mandzukic and completely fit khedira, we can field a base formation of Marchisio, khedira, pogba + morata, dybala/mandzukic, cuadrado, and return to the top3 before the end of 2015 while qualifying for CL.

We are very lucky that Napoli and Roma had crappy starts.
