Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta spoke during the press conference to announce a new partnership, he addressed the contract extensions for Vidal and Pogba:”At the moment we are looking at the contracts of many players who demonstrated that they meet our expectations. But there are also players like Chiellini and Marchisio who don’t have expiring contracts but are mid way through. We started to speak to their respective agents. With Vidal we are down to the final details and there are no problems. It’s the player himself, who despite offers from abroad, wanted to stay with us and we are extremely satisfied with what he has done. The same argument can be made for Pogba”

'Juve almost signed Kondogbia'

FIFA agent Oscar Damiani has revealed that Juventus almost signed sought-after French youngster Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The former Napoli, Milan and Bianconeri winger, who has strong links with French players, has insisted that two years ago, the Turin club almost bagged the midfielder from Lens.

“Two years Juve had Kondogbia in their hands,” he told Tuttosport. “But right at the end, they decided not to pay the €3m it would have taken to get him from Lens.

“Soon after that Sevilla came in. And then 12 months later, the Andalusian club sold him to Monaco for €16m.”

I believe we didn't sign him because he wouldn't have much space to grow, it was said at the time. Obviously a fee of €3m was not the problem.

Sevilla was a better move for him in the end.

To be fair, I am sure there are tons of youth players out there that we could have gotten if marotta accepted paying something extra. Those who never become anything special dont get any news coverage. I am sure there are no articles titled "marotta avoided a trainwreck in refusing to spend 3 mill extra on player X".

Kondogbia turned out to be a good player so almost getting him makes the news.

Totally worth it apparently
Considering asamoah went to acon, and peluso became a decent player after 3 games, it was worth it.

But tbh, people need to realise, the marvells of negotiations

so he went to psg for 12 mil. "marotta should have payed 12mil".

Well, no. Psg would have been like "bitch please, here is 125 million, now give us verratti". Bidding wars with oil teams = waste of time

Besides that, he chose PSG because we couldn't offer him regular playing time, so snatching him up wouldn't even be a theme if we offered the same as them. We should have closed it before there was interest from anyone else, and honestly, i don't think we can blame Marotta in this matter...
That being said, it's totally OK to be a little sad about him not being here right now, but why does everything have to be someones fault?

There are probably 100 players who fall into this category of 'should have signed' based on their then value and future development, but of course we can only have a certain size squad, have a certain amount to spend, and those players did better going elsewhere to play regularly. You can't buy everyone, and we already take a chance on many young players.
