Cobolli: Youngsters are our future Monday 8 June, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the awards ceremony for the Primavera tournament, Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli claimed youngsters are the future of the club.

The Bianconeri, which can already count on several youth-team products such as Sebastian Giovinco, Paolo De Ceglie and Claudio Marchisio, are hoping to increase the number of home grown players in their squad.

“Our youth ranks represent the future of Juventus and that is also one of the reasons why we picked Ciro Ferrara as our new boss,” explained Cobolli.

“Ciro and his staff were at the helm of our youth teams, which performed really well under their guidance.

“I believe he will be able to unite the veterans with the youngsters in the team in order to build something important.”

The Bianconeri just recently signed experienced defender Fabio Cannavaro and according to their President this has also been a choice to help the youngsters.

“Our young players will get the chance to learn from the older ones. For instance Lorenzo Ariaudo won’t be going on loan, he will stay at the club and will have a great tutor in Cannavaro.” concluded Cobolli.

he's got a good point but too bad his comments are a direct result of spin from being too cheap and not being able to contend in signing big named talent

Cobolli criticises Milan

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has underlined that Milan have lost a lot with the departure of Kaka.

While the Bianconeri have so far strengthened their squad in order to challenge Inter for the title, the same cannot be said about the Rossoneri.

“By selling Kaka they have lost a lot of their potential,” noted the Juve patron.

“Now they will have to buy important players to cover the hole left by the Brazilian and close the gap.”

Juve have so far replaced retiring Pavel Nedved with Diego as well as securing the services of Fabio Cannavaro.

The Bianconeri have appointed Ciro Ferrara on a permanent basis, a choice which some compared to the one of the Rossoneri with Leonardo.

I disagree with that because Leonardo is a gamble, while Ferrara is a safe option,” insisted Cobolli.

Is Ciro Ferrara a safe option yet, even tough he didn't prove himself 100%?

Such a stupid comment!!.. He should keep something like that to himself!.. Not only does it give a knock to the friendship we have with Milan, but it also puts some kind of pressure on Ferrara, like its not enough already!..
