Milan deny Gilardino claims

Milan have dismissed speculation that they have been in talks with Parma regarding Alberto Gilardino.

Some stories in Italy claim that the Rossoneri have shown an interest which has hampered Roma’s attempts to sign the striker.

But Vice-president Adriano Galliani has today insisted that the Under-21 international is not a target.

"Milan have never opened negotiations for the Parma player," stated Galliani. "However, if we wanted to then we wouldn’t need to explain our actions to anyone."

Whispers have suggested that Milan have put pressure on the Gialloblu to keep the player for one more season – much to the annoyance of Roma. Yet Galliani rubbished that theory.

"All that has happened is that one club has decided to not sell a player to another club," he continued.

"I see no reason why we should look to block the transfers of any Roma targets."

Milan were linked with Gilardino given the fitness problems of international striker Filippo Inzaghi.

"We already have four strikers at this club," added Galliani. "They are Andriy Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Hernan Crespo.

"In other words, we have four players for only two first team places. That is more than enough for us."

Con l'arrivo di Suazo in rossonero la concorrenza in attacco è aumentata e ai bianconeri può servire un'altra punta. Torna d'attualità il desiderio di andarsene per trovare la fiducia del tecnico. Il lavoro sotterraneo dei dirigenti c'è. the last time i saw gilardino make a sick play was when he assisted on del pieros 2nd goal for italy against germany..since then he hasnt done much in my opinion n i think iaquinta at this moment in time is better off in a juve jersey than gila is

Alberto Gilardino’s agent has confirmed that the Milan man is a transfer target for Serie B champions Juventus.

The Italian international’s future at the San Siro is in doubt and the Old Lady are monitoring his situation.

“Juventus are interested in the player and have made this clear,” representative Beppe Bonetto noted on Wednesday.

“However, there are some obstacles to the move which are represented by Gilardino’s [£17m] price tag and David Trezeguet’s future.

“These are not easy problems to solve and that is why I prefer to remain cautious at this moment in time.

“The solution preferred by the Rossoneri and which Gilardino agrees to is for him to remain here in Milan.

“The transfer window closes on August 30. Today he is a Milan player, but you never know what might happen seeing as the market can be unpredictable.”

Fiorentina are also keen on netting the former Parma youngster and have reportedly already made a £10m offer, but Bonetto doubts a Tuscan future looms for his client.

“The Viola don’t seem to have plans to sign players of the calibre of Gilardino,” continued the agent.

“But I also want to underline that it is untrue that [Milan Vice-President] Adriano Galliani has included Gilardino in a number of transfer negotiations.”
