Category: General

Juve fans yesterday heard star striker David Trezeguet call for substantial investment in the team next year. First though, comes the fight to get out of Serie B, “Now we must achieve promotion, then we will see. In February my father and agent will come to Italy and we will discuss my future. Before I decide I need to know the club’s plans. In any case, it’s is too early to speak now. To play in Serie A we need important signings, because seven or eight important players left, along with the coach. We need replacements if we want to return to the highest levels."

This afternoon, Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli responded to Trezeguet's comments. “We are the first ones who want a side who can compete at the highest levels. I hope that our champions will remain with us, but I am aware that this will depend on the results we achieve and the conversations we will have with them. This is my wish as the President of the club and as a Juventus supporter. We will try to convince them with facts by immediately returning to Serie A."

Juventus, in spite of their nine-point Calciopoli deduction, are back - top of Serie B after their 1-0 win over Verona on Saturday. “I cannot say that I am happy to play in Serie B. The general level of the championship is very low. However, we have decided to face this experience working hard to return to Serie A and we reached the top of the table much quicker than we expected," said Trezeguet.

In other news, Trezeguet will be fit for this Friday's game. “I am feeling much better. I thought I would have been back already last week, but then I decided with the medical staff to postpone my return,” said Trezeguet. “[On Monday] I trained with the rest of the squad and there were no problems, so I think I will be available for Friday’s match. Obviously the Coach will decide how and when to use me,” he added.

Source: Mikhail, rewritten using quotes from a Channel 4 article

I hope our president and his board will do some smart investments which will convince our champions to stay, otherwise it will be a disaster to see the likes of trezeguet, buffon and camoranesi leave next year!!! :smoke:

I hope so too! It's about time they did something. They should have been seeking out suitable players for our serie A campaign. They should already have an idea of how much they will afford to spend. Also, there is no reason they can't secure contracts in January for players starting with us in June. I've heard commentators making statements to the effect that "this/that player will be joining this/that team in Jan/June", so it does go on. By doing this, they may beat other teams to the player they want for Juve!

I don't know Italian, but I take it your saying is like our saying that someone "is all mouth & no trousers" meaning that the person talks a lot but when it comes to actions he/she is useless!
BTW, welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay!

my opinion is similar. just talking to camo, buffon and others and maybe raising their salaries won't solve the problem. these players told that they will remain only witha a competitive squad. so let's see what will happen in summer. now maybe it's still too early to judge...

Don't worry. A lot of people here are not English & some have never taken the subject at school, but they have improved their English here on the forums.

I'd go with "He talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk".

Don't worry about your English - you're quite clear and you're making an effort. Many people here start like that and get quite fluent after some practice.

By the way, here's the original article: http://channel4.com/sport/football_italia/dec13j.html
Note the spin they put on the quotes. :) I prefer mine!
