Juve eye Giannichedda option
Thursday 31 March, 2005
Juventus are set to sign Giuliano Giannichedda on a free transfer after his contract talks with Lazio stalled.

The 30-year-old is only tied to the capital club until June and no agreement has yet been reached over a renewal.

The Biancocelesti want to keep hold of the former Udinese man but their initial offer has not been welcomed by the player.

Lazio are ready to hand the midfielder a four-year deal but a contract that is only worth around £350,000-a-season.

Reports suggest that Juve will propose a three-year deal which will net the player over double that amount of money.

Giannichedda will further be enticed by the prospect of battling for the Scudetto and the Champions’ League with the Old Lady.

It’s understood that Giannichedda met with Lazio sporting director Gabriele Martino yesterday to discuss his situation.

Martino is believed to have told the ace, who is hoping for an international recall in time for the 2006 World Cup, that he wants a definite answer regarding his future by next week.

he is a good free transfer IMO, good substitute, it leaves room for us to sell Appiah and Tacchinardi. So in other words, his free signing gives us option to make some money.

Incredible :(

If is true, you are getting a great team player and a great fighter.

He's no star, but still very usefull player to have in the team.

For the ones that asked abot him as a CB - he has been playing as CB most of this season and did very, very good.

Just hope that hes' not replacement for emerson :D

Like I said, I would'nt mind him coming over here.. Plus with the tamoil deal, we could very well get BOTH gilardino and cassano.. (I'm too optimistic :p)...

good point there, but we will pay some millions to his salary,
if we have a profit then its ok

David Del Piero has the widest variety of formations and starting lineups, usually they are with 5 new players

but we will also discontinue the salary of the player we sell (Appiah, Tacchinardi), thus we would definately profit.
