Meanwhile, Giannichedda is reported to be a target for Juventus after turning down an extension to his current contract which expires in June.

Juve Coach Fabio Capello is looking to strengthen his midfield options as Alessio Tacchinardi and Stephen Appiah have been unconvincing this season.

The Old Lady are keen to offer Giannichedda, who is also a Barcelona target, a similar contract to the £1.2m a season deal he is currently on.

Giannichedda may not be the only Biancocelesti player heading north, with versatile defender Luciano Zauri also being watched by the Turin club.

You guys are missing the point. Zauri maybe old, but i think he's the sort of candidate whose ideal to be backup, and only contributes to some much needed depth in our squad.

They're not necessarliy crappy.. I mean, Giannichedda can play as a CB or a DMF.. he's very good at both positions, and would be MUCH better than our current backups for defense (Paolo "I see Red" Montero [we still love ya, though], Nicola "What's Marker's got to do with football?" Leggrotaglie, Ciro Ferrara can't take much more before he retires, and Tudor's probably gonna be shown the door.. and he's good at midfield too.. Remember the Rome derby..? Zauri, I have no opinion on, but I wouldn't mind if he joined..

How often has he played as CB ??? better than Montero and Ferrara....???
Do you really think a team like Juve can use Giannichedda as CB ??

Fine, lets stick with Montero, Tudor and the like. That should obviously decrease the depth of other teams, if not increase our own. They'll do a good job chopping down opponents because of their inability to keep up.

I haven't got a clue how good he is as a centre back, but most defensive midfielders who go to centre back aren't that confident there.
