can't say im over the moon with this news. Kovac was mince against Chelsea but thats the only time i have seen him and everybody has a bad day.

Giannichedda will be good for a squad player and was a very good player at Udinese (i remember we were linked to him then but Lazio bought him).

So two players to add some depth nothing more but useful nonetheless.

Juventus transfer guru Luciano Moggi has announced the imminent arrival of Giuliano Giannichedda and Robert Kovac.

The Director General is traditionally cagey about deals until they are made official, but was open about the club’s strategy during a radio interview this afternoon.

“This has been an extraordinary season for Juventus and we proved throughout the campaign that we were better than Milan,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“As for next year, the team is already competitive and we have already reinforced the squad with the signing of Kovac and Giannichedda.”

Neither of these deals are a surprise, as it has been reported for some weeks that the Bianconeri were in advanced negotiations.

31-year-old Giannichedda has proved himself to be a versatile player during the last year at Lazio, equally impressive in midfield and central defence when the situation called for it. He has decided not to extend his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

Kovac will also be a free transfer, as the Croat international defender’s deal has expired with Bayern Munich.

Now Moggi’s main target will be Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti. Struggling to find room at the San Siro, he is a long-time favourite of Coach Fabio Capello and was also with him at Roma.

Another option is Milan’s want-away star Massimo Ambrosini, whose patience at warming the bench has finally worn thin.

Another defender is also on Juve’s shopping list and Palermo’s Andrea Barzagli is the main target, though they have not lost hope of tempting Walter Samuel away from Real Madrid.

Cristiano Zanetti? We have no need for that one-dimensional player. Why don't we have a look at Emre FFS? He's actually a midfielder that would add something to this team. And since we already have Giannichedda why would we go after Zanetti? Sounds like a bunch of crap to me.

But both of these signings today will be primarly to strengthen our defense. Giannichedda can player as a centerback or right or leftback, so he certainly could fill in anywhere when neccesary. Certainly a decent squad player. Kovac obviously will be the understudy to Thuram or Cannavaro unless we ship him off as part of a deal.

I wonder......why the f-u-c-k we always look at the back? Always some defenders,always some DMs......All teams buy firepower,creativity and we buy bunkers...it's just matter of time when we will repeat 2003/2004 season....

Player must not be creative,even a bit
Player must run much and be dumb
Player must not be able to pass,even a bit
Player must not look and run onto opposing side of pitch
Player must remain on his side of pitch,spending 50% of game in his keeper's box
Player must be good tackler cuz it's more important to tackle the ball than scoring a goal
Player has tu fullfill his quota of 24 yellow cards and 3 red cards or he faces wage cut

thats the main word - "FREE" if moggi bought them at a price then we all wont be happy but we got them on a free and will give us more depth whiich we missed this season.

Kovac and Giannichedda on free transfers are pretty good moves. Both of them are good squad players and will certainly add depth to the squad. A right back, centre back and centre mid are all that we need now.

WONT BE pleased to be just brench players,
they all want to play,
the pressure and competition in our team will be very high,
this has short terms advantages(like high quality game from the newbies or the old ones for the starting place)
and long terms disadvantages (some team members might get exausted to proove themselves in no true value games,
small groups will be formate with players prefering some other players than other,bad fights and comments will start,
remember the mutu group in chelsea?
Dissapointed players comments that they want to leave the team will affect the rest too)
