To me it's really simple. 1. We get a better player and fix a position for 12-15 years with this move 2. He's gonna be super cheap on the books for a long time since he's 'free' 3. We do Raiola a favor, setting the stage for Haaland next year 4. We don't negatively impact the rest of the mercato.
Why I say the last part? Because as we are right now, we depend on sales in pursuing midfielders (atleast ones that will improve us). We have to sell guys like AS, Dybala, Rabiot, Ramsey (and I would add Bonucci but it probably won't happen), D. Costa. And when I say sell I mean get good value for them. That's what is gonna be necessary for us to go after Gosens, Aouar and the likes. Selling Szczesny and getting Donnarumma won't prevent us in that front
