Allison ahead of Kahn
It's always kind of tricky on lists like this.
Do you include Kahn's total body of work including the 90s, or is the criteria just his play from the turn of the century?

Martinez is the fucking worst lmao
The fact that he’s won two “Yashin awards” in a row shows how terrible the field of current goalkeepers are.
I fucking despise him too, but you can't deny his impact on the Argentina national team. He won them a World Cup. Messi won a Ballon d'Or because Argentina won a Copa America (which again, he can think Martinez as much as anyone for)
If he played at a bigger club, he'd probably have more respect at the club level. Doesn't he just feel like the perfect keeper for a club like Atletico Madrid or Inter?
i also agree on the state of the keepers. I grew up with legends (like on that list) at the GK position. Who are the legendary keepers right now under the age of 30? So many guys on that list were world class superstars in their mid-20s. Donnarumma was supposed to be that guy, but he gets disrespected a lot because he's not the modern keeper that prioritizes the importance of being able to play out the back over what we grew up watching.
Maybe it was just a special era, like with Ronaldo and Messi. You get used to having players of that caliber that once they're gone, you expect the next guys to step in and fill their shoes. Everyone thought Mbappe vs Haaland would be the next Messi vs Ronaldo debate --- that feels laughable now. And that's not even meant to be a shot at those 2 guys. It's just that guys like Ronaldo, Messi, Buffon, Neuer, Casillas, etc are rare.
Maybe it's all because of that way the game has evolved over the past 10 years. it is interesting to think about.
