Which season was Buffon's best one? Pls discuss
It would be too hard a task for me to even pick one season since he had far too many games every season. 2007–08 and 2002/03 and also unforgettable WC 2006.

Making wimmins feel better is more important than accuracy.
Really WTF about their rating, what are the basis to such rate?

Id say 2002/03. its hard to choose one as he has been on top for so many years, but this one is my favorite. Penalty save against Real in the semis, some great saves in QFs against Barcelona and in general his handling was incredible. Older Buffon tend to punch the ball more often.
I know punching the ball is frowned upon. But you know what they say..:know the rules well before you break it.

I believe buffoon’s longevity comes from daring to do things that is frowned upon. Him opting to punch the ball severely decreases the chance of any slip ups or injuries to himself. Look at how many times goalkeepers actually drop a ball trying to catch it. It is easy to say it, but in real match situation where crossings come curling in at top speed with players around you, it is actually almost impossible trying to catch it.

in training, coaches are just hitting easy balls…

02/03 and 16/17 imo.

Bro was nearly 40 years old in that 16/17 season and he was simply phenomenal.

none of those seasons were his best seasons. are you guys serious?

he had BBC most of his career and before that thuram and cannavaro and ferrara. he basically stood around and did nothing. wasted money really.

no, his best seasons were with legro, boumsong, and melberg. he actually had to pull saves during those years and earn his money

I can see how you are fascinated by acrobatic saves, and he has proven himself well in those boumsong years.

But as a keeper, when you have big names like BBC Cannavaro Thuram in front of you, it becomes a challenge to command and guide. Big players ego some times get in the way and they refuse to listen. And that is what I think Buffon has done so well. He has always been able to build good chemistry and orchestrate his defence to minimize danger and control the defensive phase of his game. And many times, it is way harder than performing textbook saves. Interpersonal skill is extremely intricate.
And for Buffon to manage it across different generations, it is crazy respectable.

so for me, every year is his iconic year. I can’t choose one.

What? Im not criticizing him for puching the ball more often as he got older. It was correct thing to do since his handling wasnt as good as before. He was still amazing keeper, trully blessed we had someone like him for so long. However, it is noticeable difference between 2002/03 and 2011/12 Buffon for instance.

2007-2008 is a good call, he was amazing that season. Some saves against Cagliari and Lazio come to mind.

That was one my favourite seasons as a whole. First season back from B, it was incredible how we finished 3rd, with Del Piero and Trez as the league's 1st and 2nd top scorers.

did anyone else watch his seasons with Parma? When juve announced signings him I said to myself “monumental signing.

this is going to be the big one. Holy fuck this guy will be huge”
It's funny you mention signings. I was at this party last week where the hostess said her party trick was she could correctly tell dudes' dick sizes just from the way they wrote their name. Nobody believed her so we told her to prove it. We all lined up and she watched you write, then made her guess and then you showed it to her to see if she was right. If she liked your signature you're probably packing. Most of the guys before me she was unimpressed with their handwriting, almost like she was looking for a really big cock that night. So she said these other dudes would be pretty small based on their lame signatures but the amazing thing is she was correct with all of them!! None of them were far above average. So when it was my turn she gave me the pen and asked me to write my name down on a dotted line. As soon as I had started writing she said monumental signing.

this is going to be the big one. Holy fuck this guy will be huge
