When you have a squad as weak as ours is, it doesn't make sense to sell one of, if not your very best player.

Actually, IMO it makes perfect sense. Sell your best player before his value drops so you can buy several new players and improve the overall quality of the team by replacing the weak links.

I have to refer to the Zidane example again. Although Buffon, Nedved and Thuram were not individually better players than Zidane (who was at the time probbaly the best player in the world) combined together they improved the quality of the squad my much more than was lost by Zidane's sale.

Fred showering the forum with his objectivity and near perfect analysis.
IMO Fabianski is an underrated keeper, mainly because he doesn't get many games for Arsenal. We all know Almunia is an incompetent keeper, he won't be starting for us next season. Fabianski will get the chance to show the world his world class potential.

Agent once again confirming that Gigi should be staying put. Let's hope it's true.

"Non c'è assolutamente nulla anzi, non capisco perchè continuino ad uscire squadre e cifre, sempre sugli stessi giornali. Noi, posso garantire, non ne sappiamo nulla": il futuro del portiere della Nazionale dunque, sembra ancora legato al bianconero. "Certo, ha tre anni di contratto con la Juventus e nulla mi fa pensare che possa cambiare qualcosa a breve" conclude Martina.

Buffon will stay at Juve
Tuesday 20 April, 2010

Gigi Buffon will see out the remainder of his contract at Juventus, according to his agent Silvano Martina.

The World Cup winner has been linked with Manchester City and Bayern Munich in recent weeks.

La Gazzetta dello Sport even claimed that Juventus might sell him to fund their ambitious plans to rebuild the team this summer.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Martina said: “Gigi will stay another three years at Juve. There is absolutely nothing [to rumours linking him with a move away from the club].

“Actually I don't understand why these teams and figures keep coming out. I can guarantee that we don't know anything about them.

“Gigi has three years left on his contract with Juve and nothing leads me to believe that anything will suddenly change,” he concluded.

I actually think if another club offered 30 million pounds for him, it would be worthwhile to offload him. One we get funds to fix multplie positions, we bring in a younger player like Marchetti to replace him, we reduce some high wages in a year where we dont play in european competitions.

He is 32 yrs old and injury prone...dont get me wrong, i love the guy, he is a legend and the worlds best, but the current situation for juve is more important.
