Buffon resigned to Juve fate
Saturday 17 April, 2010
Gianluigi Buffon admits Juventus “couldn’t do any more” against Inter, but leaves question marks over his future.

Last night’s 2-0 defeat came after Momo Sissoko’s first half dismissal at San Siro and makes it increasingly unlikely they’ll finish in the top four.

“It certainly isn’t this result alone that means we risk missing out on the Champions League,” commented the goalkeeper.

“In the condition we’re in at the moment, I’d say that we couldn’t do any more against Inter.”

Failure to qualify for Europe’s premier competition will see a revolution at the club and reports continue to suggest Buffon will be sacrificed.

“The decision does not depend on Champions League qualification, but we must carry on in these circumstances and at the end of the season we’ll see what happens.”

When asked about the contentious 2006 Scudetto and whether Inter should hand it back in the wake of the latest Calciopoli revelations, the shot-stopper was not interested.

“Talking about these things still is ugly. I just know that when we won it, we celebrated. It’s up to others to evaluate off the field matters.”

"The fact that I stay or go does not depend on where the team finishes".

"20 days ago the club released a statement and that's where my future is written. We should stop reading in between the lines."
