We really need to find a decent back up keeper for the next season.
Buffon needs to rest but the Euro wont let him!!
And next year, we will be participating in 3 competitions, in case Buffon needs to rest for a period of time, we need a very good back because we cant tell when his back problems will re-appear, they might appear in a critical CL knock out game!!

We should bring back a quality keeper we posses, i m sure he will have plenty of chances to prove his value, we need Mirante back!!!

Italy goalkeepers not keen on new Euro 2008 ball

FLORENCE, Italy, May 27 (Reuters)
The official match ball for Euro 2008 will cause goalkeepers more problems than usual because of its erratic flight, Italy's reserve keeper Marco Amelia said on Tuesday.
The build-up to big tournaments is often dominated by goalkeepers worrying about new balls, which are brought out especially for the events.
The official Euro 2008 ball, EUROPASS, is made by Adidas and has a new surface structure which the makers say creates greater swerve.
"It changes direction. To not make a mess trying to stop it, it's better to beat it away," Amelia told Italy's La Repubblica.
While Juventus star Gianluigi Buffon tries to stay more positive:
"Maybe we just have to get used to it. But it won't matter, I'll get the ball anyway."
The world champions have been using the new balls at their training base near Florence since Sunday. They face Belgium in their final friendly on Friday before heading to Austria and Switzerland for June's tournament.

Buffon: This Feels Like The World Cup

Italy goalkeeper Gian Luigi Buffon believes that the Azzurri heading to Euro 2008 are as good if not better than the team that one the World Cup two years ago.

La Nazionale had their last training session on Thursday before the friendly against Belgium on Friday night.

Roberto Donadoni’s side have been training hard for the European Championship next month and Buffon reveals the atmosphere within the squad is like the one he witnessed in Germany 2006.

“The first few days everyone felt tired and there was no mood for joking around,” said the Juventus custodian.

“However, recently the group has returned to being like it was during the World Cup.

“We are training with great intensity and without having much rest. And from this I am getting the feeling that we are very similar to the World Cup winning side.

The Azzurri number 1 believes his side can win the tournament and he is hoping to make history on June 29th in Vienna.

“We will do everything to make history and win Euro 2008. But we know it will be difficult because at this level every team has the same qualities.”

Italy kick-off their tournament on June 9th against Holland.

Buffon: Supporters Spur Me On
Italian super-goalie Gianluigi Buffon says that nothing motivates him more than bringing joy to the hearts of the fans.

Buffon has already gone on recored as saying that this year's edition of the Azzurri are as good, if not better, than the squad that conquered the world two years ago.

Now, he is determined to see the people of Italy dancing in the streets again by bringing the European Cup home.

“Obviously it is an objective,” said the Juve keeper.

“We live for that and it is part of my job.

“As a kid I admired the players who made history in Italian football, with their club or with La Nazionale.

“Leaving a trace would be a satisfaction for me, my sons, nephews, and for all who will have my name in the future.

“If it is a good memory for them, I will be proud when I have passed away.

“What I like most in football is the joy transmitted after a save, a goal or a win.

“The important thing is not to win a World Cup or a Euro but that the fans invade the places and the streets from the morning to the evening.

“You find the most beautiful in winning in the eyes of the ones who are celebrating it.”

Italy kick-off their tournament on June 9th against Holland.
