Gianluigi Buffon is proud to be a part of Juventus and believes the Bianconeri will not be afraid to look anyone in the eye once they return to Serie A.
The goalkeeper is recovering from a back injury and was unable to play in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Bari, but was at the Stadio Olimpico to enjoy the side’s solitary leadership of the table.
“
This year’s Serie B is definitely better thanks to us
, whereas we paid for the relegation dearly also from a financial point of view,” said Buffon during the TV program La Domenica Sportiva.
“However, once we return to Serie A I am sure that
we will have the dignity to look everyone in the eye, while I am not sure that the other clubs can do the same,” added the world champion.
The former Parma man has not yet decided where his future lies, although it seems that he might be considering the idea of staying in Turin.
“I don’t want to speak about the future, we must concentrate on returning to Serie A – then we can discuss the players’ contracts.
“After we started to talk about market transfers we lost or we were held to a draw, so it is better if we focus on the matches,” explained the No 1.
Buffon had asked the club to guarantee that a strong side would be built around him and the other champions, allowing the team to be immediately competitive at the highest level next year.
“The goalkeeper is not included in any market talks and I think the player agrees with this, therefore I am confident that he will stay,” said sporting director Alessio Secco last week.
