Buffon: best goalkeeper of the decade according to IFFHS
While awaiting his return to the field after the back operation last August, Gigi Buffon is still a subject of discussion. In the last few days he received yet another award in his incredible career.

The IFFHS (Interntaional Foundations for Football History and Statistics) declared him as being the best goalkeeper in the world in the last decade. In the time between 2001 – the year in which he joined Juventus – and 2009, Gigi was voted as the best amongst all number ones beating Spaniard Iker Casillas of Real Madrid and Czech keeper Peter Cech of Chelsea.

For Buffon it is yet another acknowledgement received from the IFFHS. A few months ago, in January, the Juventus goalkeeper was voted best goalkeeper of all times.
Here is the whole list:

Buffon is not leaving but we do need a New Solid GK. Buffon is the Best love him Living Legend but I think his days are numbered. Sorry guys I know you are going to go bonkers on this but his done. He is never going to be like he was in 2001-2006 it's over he had his prime time but I still say he should start cause he is still the best GK we have... So let's picture this who do we get or does anybody have an idea who would our next big GK when Buffon retires or leave? ( think he retires with juve)

I feel like Marotta might want to cash in on Gigi this summer. And he might actually leave given Beppe's ambitions of signing Dzeko, Cassano and some quality fullbacks. Hope I'm wrong.

Gigi is my favorite Juve player and I'm honestly afraid of them seriously considering selling him. With Gigi having problems with injuries and them seeing that Storari is not a catastrophe in goal I think they might consider selling him if a good offer arrives.

We are one of few lucky teams that haven't had to think about the goalkeeper position(Just look at Milans problems) for almost 10 years and Gigi is still only 32 years old which for a goalkeeper is nothing.

"Cash in" on a player who has missed 6 months through injury? I think we'd be lucky to get a good price in January.

And as soon as he start playing again, everyone will remember he's the best in the world and change their tone, insisting he's priceless.

It doesn't make sense to sell Buffon for 20M Euros, or even 30M Euros. If we could get 40M for him I might agree to his transfer, but you can't sell the best player in the world at his position for a meager 20M.

Makes more sense to keep him and cut the dead weight players instead.
