I'd take our Buffon over more Tiagos and Almirons. Show me a single piece of convincing evidence that I shouldn't think we're completely gonna waste the money we get for Buffon.
I second this, if I had any shred of confidence the money would be appropriately reinvested within the playing squad then I wouldn't mind. Too bad we have Secco.

If you guys want to raise money by selling our Champions, than IMO we should be talking about Trez, especially given all of the noise his agent is making. Plus, that position is an area of strength, and we can cover that loss. We can't afford to lose more than 2 champions this offseason, and with Pavel leaving, those two are definitely all we can suffer to lose - that will hurt us enough as it is.

We're leaking goals like a sieve, and some of you want to unload the strongest player we have at the back? How does that get us out of this mess? Where are all of these WC defenders going to come from, players that Alessio Secco is going to be able to negotiate a fair price for and who are willing to come to a rebuilding squad that's basically selling off their best player?

No one in there right mind is going to give us 50+ M for a goalkeeper that has been out half the year with a back injury, and is 31 years old. Right now is as low as Gigi's stock has probably ever been, and it's generally not a good idea to sell low.

I can't even believe the talk about Gigi being poor. He hasn't been at his best, but poor? As someone mentioned, we're consistently giving up goals on the counterattack, where he ends up 1 on 1 with a striker, or from set pieces where nobody has bothered to mark their man. In other words, we've consistently left him hung out to dry, and it's Gigi's fault?

And two points, Alen? You think Gigi's been good for 2 points? You must be joking...

We're all frustrated at the current state of affairs, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water, FFS.

The only way Gigi should be sold, is if he asks to leave; we would owe him that much.

This bit more brief then his epic words in half time against Palermo in first half of the season, but apparently he said this in half time against Lecce:

""We are playing like s***, we are a disgrace. Do you realise? Yes or no?"

Need I say that this fucker is my 2nd hero? :touched:

Lets not overreact now. It's clear that the defense is the main reason why Buffon concedes so much. It's also clear that most of the goals we conceded were 1 on 1 situations. But that's the whole point. Buffon used to make even those impossible saves. The saves that bring points. This year he doesn't.

So you could say that he's been poor for his standard (which i actually said already). I don't remember many matches from this season when we wouldn't have won if it wasn't for Buffon. And those are the situations when the goalkeeper "brings points". Buffon has hardly ever done it this year.

And i never asked to sell Buffon. I don't even wanna think about selling him.

His agent came out on TV and said Gigi's value is 20m €(7 more than Tiago).

Juve would want at least 40.

NO POINT IN SELLING HIM.

Yes his agentis definitely trying to get him out of here. I dont blame him.

Secco and company must be with their heads almost exploding right now with all the things they have to do.

It's going to be interesting to see how these goombahs respond to this pressure. They know they can't half-ass it and pull the wool over our eyes any longer.

The reason why I took issue with your 2 points comment (and for the record also didn't like your 90% of the shots on target have been goals comment - which we both know is an exaggeration, and I should have taken it as such), is that for me, Gigi made a couple massive saves in both of our recent draws, during this most difficult part of the season. So for me, that's 2 points right there, because in my mind, we would have lost those games without those crucial saves.

I think that a major difference is that in the past those saves would have preserved a win, and Gigi would have been given his due. I've heard some really ungrateful comments in the last few weeks about an individual who has been a crucial part of this team's backbone for a long time (I'm not saying you made those comments). It makes me cringe... Right up there with people claiming that it's best if we lose out, so our coach will get fired - as much as Ranieri needs to be replaced. I'm so fucking sick of losing.

I want to also point out that I feel that in the past, on many of Gigi's one on one saves the striker would at least have been hurried by one of our top class defenders trying to recover, and more often then is the case now, they would have been in more difficult positions to score (sharper angles, etc).

Lately, the opposing strikers have all day to coast in, pick a spot, wait for the goalie to commit, and then cooly slot the ball home. I mean, on that goal that Conan scored Sunday, his reception of the pass wasn't clean at all. He stepped over, came back, stepped forward a few feet and shot... really had all day long to finish that play.

Anyways, I'm sorry if you took my comment as a personal affront; the only part of my post that was specifically directed at you was the line about your 2 points comment. I know that you're a completely loyal fan, that you never wanted Gigi to leave, and that you always aim to present a balanced point of view (Except in your comments about Tiago, and Andy's love of Barcelona )

It's just from where I'm sitting, Gigi's nearly the least culpable player on our entire team, and I'm tired of hearing some people on this site talk smack about him.

Anyways, and FORZA JUVENTUS. Hope we smash those dirty Meelan Fookers.

Buffon made two incredible saves against Lecce. Otherwise, the score would be tied before the 90th minute and we might have lost. Again, the final goal came from a deflected cross. The team seems to forget how to defend and it is largely down to the mentality and some bad luck. The players are capable of more as shown by the numerous comebacks in the recent draws and defeats, but they need to get back to their previous shape.
