Buffon: «We must believe and try»

After the home defeat against Cagliari and two days prior to the Coppa Italia match against Napoli, Gigi Buffon in an interview on Rai Due spoke of the moment the team is going through. The journalist asked whether Juventus are suffering from the injuries incurred : «We are suffering the effects of a long run and it is only natural that one needs to rest after such a great effort».

There is also room for a lot of auto-criticism this time through his personal website: «There is much disappointment following the two consecutive defeats against Udinese and Cagliari and the many goals conceded. Pity, because the matches against Catania and Fiorentina had left good hope. However. I am not the type of person to cry over spilt milk and blame others. I know we can and must do better, beginning from me. I must help the team more, saving it even in situations when the goal seems inevitable: this is what is rightly demanded of me and it is what I want to do! In any case I am hopeful with regards to the next matches, starting from the one on Wednesday night in the Coppa Italia against Napoli».

Buffon, in the interview, also has words for encouragement not to lose hope: «It is alright to be temporarily overtaken by Milan because what counts at the end is the first place. We must believe and try to obtain it».

We need a mask of Manninger's face. That way Buffon can wear it during matches, our defenders will think it's Manninger and they'll try more, while Gigi will do the rest of the job.

So Gigis got the flue again, is there no treatments for this in Italy?????? :D Manninger will do a good job anyway but still this is getting very annoying.

All Hail The King!! These 3 points were all about Buffon... definitely a couple World Class saves. So nice to have the world's #1 back between the sticks. FORZA GIGI!!

Well done Buffon! When is Chiellini due back? I think I read somewhere he will make his recovery faster than expected which could be good news as he will hopefully shape up our defense again as it was tough not so long time ago. I think performance of our central midfielders also affected our shaky defense recently. The midfielders didn't do their defensive job perfectly. The Buffon factor remains misterious although I don't think he holds any blame.

It's more like Juventus is trying to test Buffon's ability and talent, and he lived up to expectations again, like the Udinese game last season
