pazzini is nothing special... yes he scored some goals but he did got the service
trez could score 15 goals a season again with some service over the wings....
i wouldn't mind him here but not for that price

I have my reservations. When Amauri had the phenomenal season with Palermo and we signed him for over 20 million I thought great. However with watching Amauri at Juventus especially this season it has not worked out for him and he's alot more gifted than what Pazzini is. Pazzini is an ok player but I would not pay anything more than 10 million for him.
I think you have more than just reservations :D

As for his price, > 20 million € does sound too expensive. But I'm afraid that's a realistic price.

Just consider what we paid for players like Melo & Amauri. I'm not saying these are crap players (this season they have been just that though), but we overpaid for them as well.
If you are a club like Juventus, you'll almost always overpay, especially when dealing for (somewhat) proven players.

Ian Holloway has proven you don't need to break the bank to achieve your goals...

Pazzo for 22m euros or Charlie Adam for £0.5m...imho that there shows how mad we have got on the transfer market.

Pazzo for that money is a joke.

With all due respect, you can't compare Blackpool to Juventus.

I understand the crux of your argument but really, Blackpool and Juventus are a world apart in terms of goals, even if they did brilliantly.

Wrong way to look at it.

Why can't look this way? For that amount of money who can we buy instead? Or why don't you compare it to Villa's 40mln transfer?

Villa, who is a world class striker. If Pazzo is worth 22, then Villa is worth 122.

Villa only went for that low fee, rather than the €50m or so offered and turned down in the past, because of Valencia's financial problems. He is also 28 now.

Who would you want to buy for €22m instead?

The point of my argument is that you don't need to spend millions to ensure success. Buying the very best players is not always the right move. Inter did not buy the best when they bought Sneijder, they bought a player who fitted the system first and foremost.

Pazzo may fit in our system, but our budget constraints and problems elsewhere deem the need to spend the big bucks on the defence.

So what if he is 28? For Drogba I'd give 44 plus my ass to get him here, even if he's over 30. Villa for 3 seasons will repay that 6 times at least.

Anyway, who would I buy? Instead of buying Pazzini I'd rather stick to Amauri and Trez and buy a right winger for that money. Whatever is your combination with Pazzini, this one would wipe the floor with it

Melo/Marchisio - Sissoko

Sanchez/Hazard/Krasic - Diego - Giovinco

Amauri/Trez

If our board insists to buy a poacher then getting Gilardino for around 15 would be much better as we'd have to splash extra for a fullback.

We could do with a new striker, as ours are aging and injury prone. It shouldn't be a priority though.

As I have said before, you can always look at it from entirely different perspectives.

If Melo cost us 25m € & Amauri cost us 22-23m €, then about 22m € for Pazzini is a realistic price. It may even be a tad on the cheap side if you're honest.
But if you look at how much Inter paid for someone like Sneijder, then 22m € for Pazzini is too much.

No need to bring Villa into the argument. There was no possibility whatsoever that he would be joining us. Even if we did come up with 40 million.
Plus, you shouldn't only look at transfer prices, salaries are just as important. A fact that most people tend to overlook when talking / dreaming about signings like Villa, Benzema, etc.

Look, I'm not saying we need to sign Pazzini. We don't even need new attackers for all I care. But from the looks of it, we're going to get one anyway.
And if that is indeed the case, Pazzini would be one of my top picks.
