Well said Alen,

Pazzini is an average player who would cost double what he's actually worth. If were throwing away 20 million it atleast should be on Cassano not this overhyped player.
I disagree actually. I partly disagree.I think Pazzo is a very good striker, very good finisher. Someone with potential to score more goals than Amauri and Iaquinta. He's also in his best years. He will turn 26 this summer.

But it's a fact that the very good season and Samp's 4th place and their chance to play in CL will make him much more expensive than his real value and Juve have way too many bigger problems in the team. My problem here is that if we overspend on a striker who isn't worthy of the asked money, will hurt us where we need the quality more, in defense. To have a striker like Pazzini also requires having quality support from the midfield (AM and wingers).
If we do have a good plan and if we intend to buy the needed support for a striker like Pazzini, then I will accept him, gladly.

I'd rather we work on buying defenders and midfielders now. If we do that, then we just wait to see if Sampdoria will make the CL. If they do, then either we go on with the attackers we have, or we try to buy someone else. If they don't, then we can buy him cheaper in August.

Age is not a factor when he's smashing in goals week in week out for a poor Udinese side.
Age is always a factor when signing a new player.

I was just trying to make a point. Pazzini should stay in Samp because he's not good enough for a top club.
Maybe he is & maybe he isn't. Personally, I think he is.
I am very curious why you'd say he isn't good enough with such conviction.

For all we know, Dzeko may not be good enough for a top club.
Or how about Benzema, what has he achieved outside of France? Very little, so maybe he is not good enough either.
...

In the end, every transfer you make is a risk & a lot of them don't work out. Something we should be very familiar with by now.

If we can loan Benzema then that is more worthwhile than giving away one of our most talented players and shelling out over 20 million. The Bundesliga is a stronger league than the Italian is at the moment and Dzeko record speaks for itself. He is twice the striker Pazzini will ever be and he's two years younger.

That would mean he can't play in the EL though. Would not be ideal.

First of all, I like Dzeko a lot & I do think he would succeed pretty much everywhere. So if we do manage to sign him for a reasonable sum, no complaints from me. But he certainly is not twice the striker that Pazzini is or will ever be.

As far as money is concerned, you shouldn't only look at the transfer price. A lot of people always seem to forget salaries. A player such as Benzema for example would, over a couple of seasons, likely cost more in salary alone than someone like Pazzini would cost in salary & transfer price.

And I ask again: what exactly makes you so sure Pazzini is not good enough.

Benz is on 8 mil. Euros a year...ya think that fits into our wage limits?!
...
True. We have to convince him to reduce his salary. We always talk about signing a world class striker to finally increase the quality of the team, but in reality most world class strikers would request high wages, even Dzeko, with all clubs interested in him around europe, his requests will be a bit high.

I've seen stranger things in football, I don't think Benzema taking a pay cut is unimaginable. If the latest news are true, Mourinho will be looking to bring Torres or Milito to Madrid, with Higuain being irreplaceable, there's a big chance of Benzema leaving.

It's still a dream move that only Moggi-like deals could make into a reality.

Benzema would be crazy to expect any team to pay him 8m a year if they were to get him away from Madrid. If he realistically wants to get back on track with his club career, and find his way into the French team after the world cup, he has to be prepared to make that sacrifice. He seems like the sort of person who really likes his football, so it doesn't seem like madness.

That's the exact reason I don't want us to jump to a deal with Sampdoria on Pazzini right away.

I know we are all wooed by the co-efficient by I don't think it is and Serie A is also a hard league for foreign strikers to adjust to. Defences are much different and teams do still set up in constrictive ways, although centre forwards are cherished and with good service I could see Dzeko having a 15-18 goal season, but then so could Pazzini.

we should first be sure what kind of striker we need...
dzeko and pazzini are two very different strikers in my book
dzeko is a player who can create more by himself... he can also pick up some balls in midfield and creates space for himself or other strikers... he reminds me of zlatan when he was at inter....
pazzini is in my view is more a trezeguet kind of striker...he is more in the box than dzeko i think.... he is a pure goal scorer a guy that is there where he has to be....
so if we use the 4-4-2 with wingers we should go for a pazzini or somebody else... if we play something like a 4-2-3-1 i would go for dzeko

I agree with Alen anyway. Our defence (first and foremoist) needs to be sorted out then midfielders and strikers.

But I would take Pazzo over any of our strikers at the moment. Thats the reality of the situation. He would be an upgrade.
