Ghana progressed through to the semi-finals of the 2013 African Cup of Nations following a 2-0 win over Cape Verde.
Mubarak Wakaso put the Black Stars in front at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, converting from the spot on 54 minutes after Asamoah Gyan had been fouled in the area.
Despite coming under a spirited second-half Cape Verde onslaught, Ghana weathered the storm and booked their place in the next round when Wakaso broke free to double his tally in the dying stages.
Bianconeri midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah played the entire 90 minutes.
The Black Stars will now wait to learn the identity of their semi-final opposition as they bid to lift their first African Nations Cup title for 31 years.
