"Ruud van Nistelrooy is a cheat and a coward who is sneaky in the way he goes about fouling other players. Everyone thinks he’s a nice guy but, in fact, he’s a son of a bitch. He has a history of incidents that all too often have gone unnoticed. He has punched Freddie Ljungberg and elbowed Lauren. At Arsenal we hated him and had real reason to do so. I can’t stand the sight of Van Nistelrooy. He’s a great player — but everything about him annoys me"

- Patrick Vieira

I was sent off at Old Trafford after a second yellow card as a result of an incident with him. I got shafted. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, He tried to stamp on me and then he made more of the challenge than he should have done. I am not blaming the referee. He got shafted too.”

I was standing with a friend when Van Nistelrooy walked past. We looked at each other. He tried to talk to me and I told him that it was finished and I had nothing more to say. But he persisted, So I asked if I had touched him. He simply replied, 'You have no class’. That was the icing on the cake. He was trying to convince himself that he had not cheated, which showed he didn’t have a clear conscience.

“I said, 'Watch it, or I’m going to land one on you’. This altercation confirmed my view that not only is Van Nistelrooy a cheat, he lacks courage"

- Patrick Vieira

The RVN to Arsenal rumour must have driven you nuts, huh? :p

I like him. I don't care if he's a coward, a douche or if he's a snake, he's a hell of a goalscorer.

He's a great goal scorer and a monster of a striker. But seeing Arsenal players gang up on him back in 2004, was one of the best moments in football for me. Boy i miss that Arsenal team :touched:

Great player, great defender, Arsenal legend. I will never forget the day he attempted to strangle Arsene Wenger to force him to let him in(Keown was on the bench), because Keown needed one more appearance in order to be eligible for an EPL medal

Nice assist by Elia today, and a good performance on the left hand side. I can see why you'd want him at Juve Ken.

Yada yada yada about RVN, let's all cry and gang on him because the mighty French twat says he has no courage. Give me a break.

Any player from a rival team can cook that kind of stuff up, and obviously the fans take that one-sided story like a kid loves candy.

Great defender, but not a great player. There is a saying in England that Keown went his whole career without kicking the ball, he kicked everything else instead :D

He's a real cheat though, a really sneaky player, regardless of what Vieira said about him.

Ya, thats what i loved about him:juventus:

He is actually quite well spoken and usually talks sense when he appears on TV or radio.

You're just bitter because he had some run-ins with Arsenal players.

Let's just agree that he's an amazing striker and leave his personality out of it. :D
I rate Van Nistelrooy extremely highly btw, forgetting for a moment that he is one of my most hated players ever, and forgetting what an asshole he is:p, he is a world class striker. IMO better than Inzaghi, Trezeguet, Raul, Eto'o and other modern strikers.

But Fred, is he really biased?

You too are biased but against him(atleast as a person). Truth is neither of us know him personally or have played with or against him, and we don't know Vieira for that matter either, he could be a snake too. Or they just hate each other and make the other look bad when they talk about him.
