Gomez for 30? That's a bit steep.
It's too much, even if Gomez has all the chances to be great for Bayern. The guy scored 79 goals for Stuttgart in the last 3 seasons and he's only 23.
He's improving season by season ( 16 goals in 2007, 28 in 2008, 35 in 2009) so the potential to do even better than this is there. If Bayern find a +30 goals a season striker in Gomez, than they won't mind the 30m eur spent on him, even if it's overpayment.

Wasnt Podolski hot and running also before joining Bayern.

Every player is different.
Gomez is a different kind of striker. People remember the bad Euro he had, but watching him for Stuttgart i saw that he's a very strong striker, almost impossible to be stopped due to his strong physicality and athleticism, and he's also very technical for his height.

30m is of course way too much, but the guy will imo pay Bayern back with loads of goals.

I don't think he is overpaid, and its about time german clubs start making bayern pay for their stars. I am a bit disappointed that Gomez is going there, but at least Stuttgart will get some money (even though most probably they will not invest correctly and they will have a horrible season because they are dependant on him).

Bayern allready signed Olic, Gomez, Timoschtschuk, Baumjohann and Görlitz.
Who´s next?
The only two that are official are Olic and Timo. They just got a new manager and their squad needs some fine tuning, plus with Klose injured for the forseeable future, Toni headed back to Italy, and Podo running back to Cologne it's only natural that they would pursue another striker. Especially with the questionable talent of Olic.

Edit: Gomez will probably be "official" tomorrow.

I also don´t think he is overpaid. But I´d hoped that Gomez would stay for one more Season in Stuttgart and play in Champions League with them. And afterwards he would leave the Bundesliga (and join Juve:p)

Podo played for a relegation battling side. Not really a big team in Germany. Gomez played for Stuttgart and has thrived near the top of the league. It's really two totally different circumstances.

Baumjohann is also official ;) Görlitz was on a loan to I think KSC and now they have him back

He's definitely worth the price from Bayern's standpoint. A team with no great strikers becomes a team with one very good striker and a solid support behind them. Now if they can only rid themselves of Toni, Van Bommel, and Lucio.

So? Look the contrasts between the two for German NT.

Gorlitz doesn't count. That's like say Criscito would count as a transfer for Juve.:D

I haven't heard anything about Baumjohann, but I'll just take your word for it.

After the damage Klinnsman did while he was there I'm not at all surprised Van Gaal wants to revamp the squad.

Podo has double the appearance for the NT that Gomez has. Still I've seen Gomez play very well for the NT and I've seen him stink it up.

That said, league performance has way more bearing on how a player will perform at a major club.

Also, I think it was a bonehead move to sell Podolski back to Cologne.

That's a lot of money for Gomez, he'll be under a lot of pressure to perform now especially at Bayern.
True. But Gomez is way better than any of the other strikers that Bayern were linked with, like Llorente from Atletico, or the fellow from Twente. I think Gomez will do well so long as Bayern hang on to Frank the Skank.

Right and Hoeneß said he want to spend some money. I read they also want Schirkow
