Season 2 of Gomorra has started. One of the best series I've ever seen.
I like it. I wonder if it's subtitled in Italy though. I speak Italian and while I understand the Italian dialogue, Neapolitan sounds like a completely distinct language to me (with elements of Spanish, but mostly words I have never heard before). I can't imagine that all Italians understand this.

Thats strange they probably use a lot of slang. Theres a similar show here in Ireland and although they speak in english they use a lot of slang words that most people who arent from Ireland but speak english might not understand.

It's not just slang, it is a very strong dialect. It is entire sentences that do not even sound like Italian. We have it in Belgium too. If people from Bruges are to speak in their dialect, I won't be able to understand them. We subtitle them too.

New TV series coming out. Preacher

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5016504/

Dominic Cooper as the main actor and the guy making it is the guy who made Breaking Bad apparently. It's based on one of the best comincs, made by DC (Vertigo). On lists it's usually rated lower than Sandman, but I guess this one is made quite easily compared to Sandman. Looks interesting. The main guy has power similar to L from Death Note.

Seen the pilot and have not been impressed so far. Alot of fans of the comics arent happy with it either but i will keep watching anyway. I was hoping it would be more gritty.

The comic is amazing, one of Garth Ennis finest work, completely insane and compelling religious mythology (basically batshit crazy dark religious satire). The Saint of killers if done right will be one of the sickest characters ever put on a tv screen lol.

I like who they cast as the irish vampire, but this series is done by Goldberg and Seth fucking Rogan, so I lost hope it would be anything near the source material off the bat. Would been nice if HBO/Showtime had the project with some serious talent in the helm instead of two fart joke pranking stoners.

When? How?

Edit nvm, thought it was premiering in 3 days, but it did 3 days ago instead.

Huh? I only read Goldberg and Rogens name, interesting if they have someone with actual talent at the helm. Btw the guy who made a show (aka BB creator) and one of the writers isnt the same. As this guy is, tho thats a big part of the series still.

Anyone who has read the comic would know that Preacher is a difficult book to adapt closely. I think the pilot was decent, the cast was good, and the production values were top notch.

I never read it. But I know Sandman and I believe that one is much harder to make.

And again, there were talks of a Sandman movie, which would be even harder. It's much easier to digest something like that in a tv series like Preacher is doing now.

Watching a movie or TV show of a comic is like reading a book about a video game. Just sayin'....

You're against adaptations in general?
I think that most of the time attempts to recreate a story in a new medium only make me feel the original medium had it better. The classic is of good books and bad movies, of course. But it even applies to things like Sin City: which felt like a movie trying too hard to be a comic book rather than a movie ... and made me just want to read the comic book instead.
