Having a really fun game with EU4 playing Naples (already formed the Two Sicilies). Usually I play kinda aggressive, trying to annex as much ground as possible. Now I had a unorthodox idea, first target all the trade centers and nodes around the Mediterranean and consolidate as much as possible.
The campaign kinda went like this:
-Got independent from Aragon by a event
-Attacked Aragon, took Sicily
-Saw that Venice attacked Byzantium, took my opportunity to attack them, annexed some of their provinces in the Balkan (Ragusa trade node), mostly took the war reparations, trade power and money to build my economy
-Attacked both Serbia and Bosnia, took Serbia’s gold mine and made Bosnia my vazal
-Poland attacked the Ottomans, took my opportunity and completely overrun them. Took Constantinople and two other provinces for the trade center as planned. Usually you’d go for terrain in Greece but I ignored it. My empire went in complete turmoil after the war, going from a monarchy to a republic, rebels everywhere
-Attacked Tunis and Morocco, made Tunis my vazal and annexed the costal provinces of Morocco + the northern part of Tunis, there are small trade nodes both in Tunis as in Morocco
-Attacked the Mamluks who were in war with the Ottomans, took Alexandria, Cairo and some other provinces there, again for the trade center
-Finally had a window to attack Venice and Genoa who had good alliances until that point. Took Genoa, Venice (both trade centres), annexed some other provinces above Venice, called it a day. Again this war caused a lot of problems, almost everyone in Europe and the Middle-East formed a coalition against me, had to consolidate and wait
-Somewhere in the steps above made a alliance with the Commonwealth, who attacked the Ottomans for their third war. Joined them and had the opportunity to annex provinces in Greeve
-Attacked Hungary in order to form a land bridge from my provinces in Italy, Russia joined Hungary so had the chance to annex a province close to Crimea. Completely overrun Russia with the Papal States and France, they ended up paying me almost 1500 ducats
Ah and damn I don’t remember when it was, but had another war with the Ottomans where I annexed Aleppo plus surrounding provinces, again for the trade center.
Went trade, quantity, quality for the ideas. The fourth will be administrative or humanist
Now it’s time to connect the dots and create land bridges mostly in the south and east, afterwards it’s time to attack Spain and Portugal. The green parts are from me, mint green my vassals, blue my alliances
