One mod(Greg) stepped in and made it clear that if you're making a relevant point, its ok to be offensive. For some reason i don't think that will be the case though.
Didn't read the whole thread. But thats like saying if my son was a muslim i'd shave his beard?
I wouldn't be offended at that. A lot of people make terrorist jokes, camel fucking jokes, desert jokes and we take it, but there are some red lines that some people purposefully pass just to offend others. Intent is key here, Andy intended on offending muslims and christians.

Even if it does, come from there, I would reason with him and discuss with him the love of a father and a son and how that statement isnt helping the scenario in one bit. I would not attack his beliefs and degrade his religion, for one it would close him off from dialogue and too make me no better than that statement of hate

He probably did have intent but you could make a case that he(someone else) was just as offended by the gay comments. What if someone is gay or has a gay family member? That's a double standard if you can insult one group but not the other. Considering everything as equal, his insult/joke is the same as the gay bashing.

See this I just don't agree with. This mindset that someone's religious beliefs, no matter how ridiculous or insulting to others, should be respected simply on the grounds that it's "part of their religion". It's so stupid.

Bullshit. This is Andy and this is the gazillionth time he's done this. Its not like this is a one off case so you can make a case for him. To be honest i saw his reply a couple of days ago when he made it, i really didn't care at first. What got me interested is when a mod justified his post and said that while Andy might have been offensive, he made a good point, therefore he's off the hook. That logic really is baffling, and i just wonder is this a general rule? Can any of us be purposefully offensive as long as we're making a point that is relevant to the discussion. Quite a serious precedent i must say.

Ok, how in your opinion am I being a hypocrite here?

Yeah, it's Andy and he did it to piss people off but Greg did have a point too. Notice how most of the people who responded to Andy are the people who were the most anti gay when in theory Andy did the same thing they were doing.

Because you find the religious comments more insulting doesn't mean anything. I personally found them highly amusing.
