Pozzo feels for D'Ago
Sunday 28 June, 2009

Udinese President Giampaolo Pozzo claimed he feels sorry for Gaetano D’Agostino following the breakdown of negotiations with Juventus.

The Friulani midfielder was excited at the possibility to join the Old Lady, a club he has supported since he was a child, but a transfer to Turin looks unlikely at this stage.

“I am sorry for the guy because I know how much he wants to join Juventus but I cannot give him to them as a gift,” said the patron.

“At this stage negotiations are over because they do not the rate the player as highly as they should. I thought he was going to go there but when I heard they were going to offer only £7-8m I understood it wasn’t going well…

“We wanted £17m cash or an exchange deal but we don’t have a definite price tag. If he was playing for one of the top clubs his price would be double.”

While Juventus are now practically out of the negotiations there could be several other teams interested.

“If the deal with Juve was over then we would wait for something better to come along. We received plenty of offers – one from England and another one from a big Italian club.

“Still anything is possible. The transfer window just opened, even the Bianconeri could come back for Gaetano, although I doubt it.

“In order to join them he would have to be willing to lower his wage demands. It’s not fair of them to take advantage of this though. This is not about a million or two, the difference between the demand and the offer is way too big,” concluded Pozzo.

this guy must be high on something.

I hope secco doesn't wast any more time with this idiot (pozzo) and look somewhere else.

The guy is an idiot for protecting his club's interests? D'ago is a quality player and we are no where near coming close to what they are asking. You gotta respect the guy (Pozzo) for sticking to his guns, it sounds like he wants the deal to Juve to go through for D'ago but we just wont meet the demands.

And he is saying that D'ago would need to take a pay cut to come to Juve? Does anyone know wtf is up with that? Why are we struggling to meet wage demands from players from smaller clubs?

Heerven and Bayern couldn't agree bout Danijel Pranjic too,the mater of 700.000€ was in question,Pranjic gave 700.000€ of his wages just to see transfer go trough. That's a will, and that is what I want to see from D'Ago....

He actually said that it wont be moral from Juve to make such demands from D'Ago but even so, the difference is way too big for it to cover..

So he thinks that he's fair price would be 30+ mil :howler: . Arsenal managed to sign arshavin and nasri for what, around 15 mil euros each !! And that guy wants double that figure for Dago :andyandbarcelona: .

I'd like to see D'Agostino in Juve but no way he deserves that much......

We should really get the hint and start looking elsewhere. Pozzo will not budge, his a clown and had we been napoli going for d'ago im sure he would have lowered his price by now.

d'ago is important so we have a backup for diego because 4321 will be our main tactical system ,in fact it will be our only one since we dont have any more wideouts.

now we have to get a strong winger somebody like ribery and silva but isee that they're getting grosso and/or dossena to do the attacking if we switch to 442.

if we gonna have a super juve just like that of 1997:

peruzzi
pessotto ferrara montero torrecilli

dilivio dechamp jugovic

zidan

boksic delpiero

then we need that verstile player that wehad in boksic and i think either ribery or david silva or even cassano might do the job.

Damn i really dont think we can get him anymore. I feel sorry for this cuz he really wanted to join us. And his a great player far better for us then getting Diarra och Ledesma. And hes the perfect regista for Ciros 4-3-1-2. I think he is better then Pirlo right now, but its true the value that Pozzo sets is far too much.

I'm sorry for DAgo!

Yes, exactly. Let's wait another year and hope Tiago can finally do his job. I can't wait for another season of our defense needlessly clearing the ball forward because they don't have anyone that wants to receive it. I hope you guys enjoy watching our offense chase long balls as much as I did last year...
