Gaetano D'Agostino's transfer to Juventus is now “an uphill struggle,” announced Udinese directors.
The Italian international was all set to make the move to Turin, but problems arose when they failed to reach an agreement over which players to exchange.
“The negotiations for D'Agostino's switch to Juventus has entered an impasse that it is difficult to get out of,” Udinese director general Sergio Gasparin told Radio Radio.
“When we pin-pointed the players we were interested in, Juve put up obstacles. Therefore it is an uphill struggle now to complete this sale.
“We did not want to release D'Agostino anyway, but unfortunately when a big club like Juventus makes an offer, it is our duty to approach it the right way.”
Udinese had stated they wanted two out of these three players as part of the deal - Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie.
D'Agostino recently made his full international debut, impressing in Italy's 3-0 friendly win over Northern Ireland.
