David Trezeguet is confident that he could be back in action sooner than many are expecting.
Juventus believe that the player, who will have shoulder surgery next week, will be available again my late January.
But the Frenchman is optimistic that he can be at the disposal of the Coach within the space of three months.
"I could be back sooner than many are predicting," Trezeguet told the Tuttosport newspaper on Tuesday.
"Auxerre’s Finnish player Tainio, for example, had the same operation as I am set to have and he was playing again after 10 weeks."
The decision to go under the knife was taken yesterday as Trezeguet has been plagued with the problem for almost a year.
"After picking up the injury again at Udinese it was impossible to carry on without surgery," he added.
"The decision to have the operation was my choice, I spoke to boss Fabio Capello and he trusts me.
"It is disappointing to stop at this moment in time as I was in good form. But the consultation with professor Walch removed any doubts.
"I’m remaining positive about things because I’m sure that I will be back, without any more physical problems, better than ever."
Trezeguet’s absence leaves the Turin giants short of strikers and there is talk that Marcelo Salas could be recalled in January.
The Chilean, 29, is currently on loan with River Plate but his agent hasn’t ruled out a return in the New Year.
"It is not a decision that we can make," said his representative. "However, if we got the call…"
