Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino insists that the club never once thought about losing Cesare Prandelli.
The Viola's highly-rated tactician has been strongly linked with both the Juventus and Italy jobs over the last six months.
When asked whether he ever thought Prandelli would leave, Corvino said: “No. We have still not met to discuss the transfer market this summer, but not for a lack of clarity.
“We have decided to meet again with the owners at the end of the season to understand which competitions we will dispute.”
Corvino was then asked to explain why Fiorentina have suffered as many as 14 defeats this season.
“In the last four years we have got extraordinary results in Serie A, with a third place and three fourth places.
“We wanted to scale mountains that Fiorentina have never scaled before. A Champions League quarter-final got away from us because of a refereeing mistake against Bayern Munich, and we were eliminated by Inter in the Coppa Italia, and they have been the strongest team in Italy for five years.
“It was logical that we would pay for it in the League and for several reasons: injuries, refereeing mistakes, being unlucky.
“I don't agree with those people who speak about an absence of character,” he concluded.

It seems Rafa is the only worthy coach left in the list.
