But how do you know that he wasn't the one responsible for that generation of players playing there?

Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Marquez, Giuly, Deco etc came to Barca when Rijkaard was the coach.
I won't count Messi because every coach would have given a chance to Messi and launched his career, but Iniesta was a no-one who wasn't even playing well, yet Rijkaard kept giving him a chance. It was under Rijkaard when Xavi finally got a freedom to play his game.

Under his guidance the Dutch NT played the best football I've seen from them (maybe you remember them destroying Yugoslavia 6:1). It was under his guidance when Barcelona grew up into the best team in the world and now I see that he's leading the Turkish league with Galatasaray.

He must be one lucky coach to always have the best generations of players playing for him.
Yeah I remember the they when they have demolished us. :p

    How do you mean always?

That's a blind fact, you can't even know if he responsible for those players coming out. But what are the odds? Slim, a coach can't be involved in every single transfer. You saw what Messi said, he gave them too much freedom that they couldn't handle. Same thing was Spalletti doing in Roma and when Ranieri came Totti said that his game is too simple and they can't get used to it, yet it brought them amazing results. I don't believe he's a good coach based on that. He'd have to prove me wrong and giving him that shot would be a huge gamble.

He added what in Barcelona? Creativity and a good football? We don't have that type of player to see something new. We need somebody to make our players run and to make our football more dynamic. Like what Antic did with Serbia. I don't think Rijkaard is the guy who can do that. Red also gave a good point there when it comes to Rijkaard and Ten Cate.

I do agree with your point though. We do need something new here, some new style of football. I just don't agree it's Rijkaard who should do that but maybe I'm wrong.

    ok, ok Domenech?

just kidding, my pick would be Blanc, right now, he is football. Sure, he doesn´t have Benitez´ expirience, I agree.

If it´ll be either Blanc, Benitez, or even Prandelli, than it´s OK, I guess.

but I would rather avoid italian coaches for a while.

Domenech reached the final in 2006, do you want him too? I believe a final in WC (and almost a victory) is even bigger achievement than 2 CL finals in 6 years and one worthy trophy.
Nah, I disagree with you on this. CL is played throughout the season and at the same time you play in different competitions. You're responsible for physically and psychically preparing the players, you need to show consistency for a longer period than only 20-30 days. You simply have to form that team, be with them every single day, solve individual problems etc. You have to eliminate teams in 2 leg matches so a fluke win in one of those matches won't be enough for you to proceed in the competition. It surely doesn't require the same consistency as the domestic championships do and luck in the draw plays it's part, but it's not comparable to the WC.

At the WC you have 7 matches maximum, in 30 days. If your country's blessed you with good players, you can coach them out to success.

Hear the names of the WC winning coaches and the WC finalists:
    - Marcello Lippi-----Raymond Domenech
    - Luiz Felipe Scolari ----- Rudi Völler
    - Aimé Jacquet-----Mário Zagallo
    - Carlos Alberto Parreira-----Arrigo Sacchi
    - Franz Beckenbauer-----Carlos Bilardo

You can see only two names who are considered to be good coaches. None of the others made it in club football, where the real money is.

Winning the WC is imo easier than winning the CL. The trophy is more important and more prestigious, but it's not harder to get. If winning the WC is a bigger and tougher achievement than winning the CL, then those Brazilian coaches must be the best coaches in the world.

Guardiola, Grant, Deschamps, Topmoller - several pretty limited coaches in the recent years have reached the final in CL too, but that doesn't make the competition "easier". Some of the best coaches around are working with NT's, it's pretty much in balance. Lippi, Capello, Rehagel, del Bosque are quality. As you said, it's more important and prestigious to win the WC, Pele and Maradona are mostly remember for their heroics with NT. Other factors do have an impact on whether it's harder than CL or not. Greece in 2004 was pure brilliance of coach, Brazil 2002 not so much.

You can't be that dumb, in last 5 years he achieved one CL final (I'm talking about 2007, you probably could notice that if you tried to actually read not blabber off topic all the time) and was close to winning league with Pool last season. Now would you be satisfied and call it a great achievement if you were Liverpool fan? In Italy he would be sacked in summer of 2008 if not faster.

Domenech reached the final in 2006, do you want him too? I believe a final in WC (and almost a victory) is even bigger achievement than 2 CL finals in 6 years and one worthy trophy.
You make absolutely no sense and never said anything about five years (as if five years is that much different than six).

Just give it up, you're clutching straws here.

If I were talking about 6 years, I'd have mentioned 2 CL finals, don't you think?

So, would you prefer Benitez over Capello? If yes, than why would you prefer Benitez over Prandelli? Would you be satisfied with the results Benitez has achieved with Liverpool?

The level of football in the Champions League is WAY higher than the level of the World Cup.

Oh btw, Blanc has categorically stated that there is no chance of Domenech coaching Juve next season, and made no mention of the other coaches we're linked with :xfinger:

Brazil, Argentine, Germany, Italy, Spain, England, France, Netherlands, Portugal. I wouldn't be surprised if any of these countries won World Cup. There also are teams like Cote d'Ivour, Ghana, US, Mexico and every other team from Europe that could be a pain in the ass and surprise everyone. If anything, WC isn't lacking in quality. There are teams like New Zealand in CL too, Maccabi Haifa to name one.

    neither. i want zac stay.
That's something I was afraid of when we got him.

He's here to get us the fourth place and then he can leave. I'll be thankful but that's it. He's not a coach that we should stick with for the future. After him we should look for a long term solution, expensive or not. Things gotta be sorted out and Zaccheroni shouldn't be doing that.
