surprising defeat , but it is just a friendly , was there no chances for amauri to score ??
Iaquinta was not there to feed him :) Last game Vincenco made most of the assists of the Amauri goals. Now he (Amauri) was with Trezegol, I think it was Amauri task to try and "feed" but somehow no luck.

Tiago was creating "fluid" in the combinations and transitions toghether with Zanetti, but no luck from the forwards.

In the second half it was much worse without Tiago.

its not annoying to loose at anyone at this stage..We were missing 4-5 standard players, we played not even regular subs in 2nd half, some players never played before (melberg), and dont forget its a friendly just and everyone is very careful about injuries etc..

It's not about this friendly, but the team with its new additions scares me to death...

Starting XI: Why Serie A is Better Than the EPL
We're sorry. We just had to get this off our chests.

1. Deal or No Deal: Referee Version.

2. Silvio Berlusconi turned his AC Milan fan club into a political party -- and won! Imagine that coming from the Kop.

3. Fewer hooligans and prettier fans.

4. Man enough to wear pink.

5. There’s no way Simon Elliott would start in Serie A.

6. Francesco Totti's wife: Ilary Blasi.
Peter Crouch's girlfriend: Abigail Clancy

7. There's a reason the best Italian players stay in Italy while the best English players go to Spain. Plus, Giuseppe Rossi actually wants to play there.

8. Hmm ... Sunderland or Sicily? Where would you rather be on a Wednesday night in January?

9. Carlo Ancelotti has forgotten more about calcio than Gary Megson will ever know about footy.

10. Marlon Harewood is worth $10m in the EPL. He could probably buy a ticket to a Serie A game.

11. Andrea Pirlo.

sorry for off top :D

Funny...

Back on topic, for the ones that had the chance to see the game:
-what was our formation??
a 4-4-2 with a Diamond? Did we used two DMs?
-What happened when Amauri got subbed? (tactically)
-Are we using long balls and direct front penetrations with an AMF?
Or we are abusing the long balls again?
Did Neddy had an AMF role, or he was just drifting in?
-How does Amauri copes with the long ball play? Is he staying near the box like a second striker, or did he draw back like a SS and let Treze to enjoy the finisher role?
-Is the backbone of our team, Molinaro, capable of making a tackle atm??
at least against serie B material??? Can he mark anyone and stop him/prevent him to come closer or make a cross, or he just escorts them to our CBs like always?

I could see some of the game, very VERY poor streaming... i was trying to get the link most of the first half.

Cannot say about the formation much. I saw couple of moments from the first half where Tiago was delivering the passes from/to both sides and there were moments of fluidnes (direct first-touch passes). After the half time (half team out and youngsters in), I don't remeber we had some goal chances. Most of them (if not all of them) were at first half. It looked like an experiment more than a game. Of course long balls mostly at second half.

The ball was at Juve possession, Piacenza played as for gaining points, defending their lead, no attacking.

Now that I tried to remember it...I already forgot most of it... maybe becouse the picture was very dark :)

We'll have more clear picture next week, against Brondby :ultra:

We played 4-4-2, with Tiago and Zanetti in the middle.
When Amauri got subbed nothing really happened, the formation didn't change, and we played the second half with almost an all-Primavera squad.
We played with long balls quite a lot actually, with Zanetti making these long passes, and let me tell you, he sucedeed in 90% of the passes.
Neddy had a free role last night, although he started as a LM.
Amauri actually didn't draw back last night, he stayed more in the box.
Molinaro was acceptable in the defence, but his offensive play still sucks.

Thank you Arif and triptonite, as you describe changed nothing but the faces so far and we faced the same situation we faced in the last season,
i was particulary interest to see if CR found a way to go around teams who defend a lead, without the the use of the desperate long balls
and if you would come up with new scheme because of the abundance of our DMs and the raising number of our forwards...
But it was probably a match to check our fitness levels and if you guys say that our players improved in some areas, that could be a good sign...

Ok so Ranieri comes out and says it's not about the result. Fine, so what are the positives from this match, then?

And for those who watched, were Juve really struggling, or were they playing just for the heck of it.

Such a result indicates to me, there was no will to get a result, and the boys just had a run out. Of course, that's only my impression from reading this thread, and C4 comments....

i watched the highlights and from what i saw the goal was pretty much the only chance piacenza had!

we had a few ( perhaps 5 or 6) good chances but were unlucky.

it seemed as if we controlled the game for long distance (judging from the highlights)..

Juve were playing just for the heck of it, the result didn't matter at all. Playing eight primavera players in the second half says it all really.

This may be a premature statement but I don't think a Trezeguet-Amauri partnership can work. They both need a strike partner who can create movement around them.

How did Ekdal do?
