I wonder what kind of message this sends out to the other young players?
That Juve will help coach you, but ultimately you need to play regularly to develop, so you need to go somewhere you can do that.

It's only if a player goes away and does well and isn't brought back that a really negative signal would be sent.

This Sorensen deal is fine, so long as Juve do bring in another defender this month.
Then why on earth, if I'm a talented player, why would I join Juve? Why not join any other bigger team that will give not only coaching or offer loan deals if that's what you want but in fact give you time on the pitch. And lot's of it. Like Bayern, Dortmund, RM, Barca, Man Utd, Man City, Chelski, Arsenal, Liverpool, Valencia, and so on. How can we motivate young players to join us if we continue in this rate? If I was a talented player IRL I would go to anyone of those mentioned and work hard to become a champion. Once I'm ready I'd wait out my contract and join Juve. But until I knew I wasn't material for Juve's starting eleven there's no sense staying around (yeah I'm talking to you too Grosso, Amauri, Iaquinta and Toni).

We're doing well bringing in these young talented kids but giving nothing in return. Some day the public will start to understand this. Just like many of the younglings who recently joined Liverpool joined "because we'll get time on the pitch".

I'll stop bitching about this soon. But Sörensen wouldn't get any less time on the pitch if this was a loan deal. Bologna has 18 points so far and will perhaps be able to stay in serie-a this season but they will have to fight hard. I doubt Pioli, being Italian, will have the patience to play an insuperior player just because the club might benefit from it in the future. A future Pioli most likely won't be a part of. If he has to chose between Sörensen or any other player who is better then it won't matter what kind of deal the player has. The coach picks out the team he thinks can do the best job. Sometimes some implications can play a factor, sure, but who in the right mind wouldn't play the "best" team depending on the circumstances? If Pioli doesn't want to keep his job, these kind of deals is the way to go though.

There is far less incentive for Bologna to take one of our developing players on loan, than through co-ownership. It seems clear to everyone that the dane has talent, and to progress he needs games at the highest level. That isn't going to happen at Juve. So...off he goes to somewhere will it could and hopefully will happen. Bologna don't want to improve Freddy then wave him goodbye, getting nothing in return for his development other than his input in the games he plays. So...they take the co-ownership option. In the future, if he does well, we will have to pay them for that 50%, so they get a return on their investment of time, energy, coaching in the lad. If the players are good enough, then generally we will take them back. The giovinco situation is different...very different. Its an odd case. but with freddy and our other co-ownership deals, generally speaking, they will ALL still harbour aspirations of ending up at Juve, and being half owned by Juve, knowing the club, being part of the club in some way, is surely a massive advantage towards their aims of one day playing for the first team at Juve.

Our intake of youngsters in the Paratici/beppe era has been impressive. we can clearly still attract some very talented kids, our youth teams are almost all at the top of their leagues, and our scouting network seems to have improved.

I can hardly deny that Sörensen needs time on the pitch and to get that he needs to go somewhere since we don't have any reserves for him to play with. I disagree about the incentives and I don't believe that is how it works in reality. Ideally for the club sure, but not in practice. Incentives in the work place has already been proved many a times that it doesn't work. Not just in economics but by psychology and others well. Why would it suddenly start working in this situation? I know that it sounds logical and it "ought to work" but I don't understand what makes this case so special and different from anything else. Pioli, I want to remind that Pioli picks the team and not anyone else even if they can try and persuade him by different means. Pioli, will play the team, depending on the circumstances, that he sees fit to do the best job. If he thinks he can afford playing Sörensen he will, not because of the money but because he wants to have a tight group, he wants to rotate or he thinks Sörensen is best/in best form, he wants as many in the group to be "as happy as possible". Not everything comes down to cash. Why would he risk relegation to serie-b for making profit of 2-3 mln on a player?

Fine, the Gio case is odd and different. Let me know though when you've heard of the first successful co-deal in history. I can't think of any right now but there has to be someone but looking at those that it has worked for (none) and those that it hasn't worked for (everyone) isn't making me fap over this deal.

The only thing I don't understand here is how people can be happy with our contributions? Magnusson and everyone else we've attracted recently are promising. Yes. But we have had tons of promising youngsters before. This isn't something new. All we did for them is loan 'em out or get them some co-deals and then forget about them. I feel Don't take me wrong I am very happy that we continue to attract young players

What I've been trying to say is: No, I don't think we should keep Sörensen for the rest of the season. We could use him as backup since we don't have any backup at all. But he won't get to play much so. Anyway, what I have been cryings my eyes about is that I want Juve to commit a long-term plan by starting a reserve team and learn by reviewing how Germany and Spain have worked to accomplish so many promising players. It's not just a fluke, it all comes down to hard work they've put down and we need to learn about this. One step is to commit to the future by starting a reserve team and use it as the teams in Germany and Spain does. Instead of loaning out players keep them in the reserves and let them be nurtured at home. Why is this so wrong? It's even cheaper to do than paying for all the alliances we have around in Italy serie-b/c teams.

I can tell you already now. If we continue down this road, at best, we'll see a new PDC in a few years.
