Mou: I miss English media
Saturday 15 November, 2008
Jose Mourinho admits he misses the “fantastic” English Press – because they didn’t ask him any questions!

The former Chelsea boss has found it hard going in Serie A and stormed out of two post-match interviews last week when asked about comparisons with Inter predecessor Roberto Mancini.

“It is impossible to compare the Italian Press to the English one. If you want to compare the Italian to the Spanish or the Portuguese, then you can, but in England it is a whole different approach,” he said in a Press conference.

“For example, Portugal is a country with 10 million inhabitants and, like Italy, it has three daily newspapers dedicated solely to sport.

“In England there are no sports papers, just two pages in each newspaper every day and on Monday a supplement of six or seven pages.

“There is Sky Sports who talk about football a bit every day, but nothing more than that. After matches there is a flash interview lasting one minute and then a Press conference for five minutes. You cannot compare the experiences, it is impossible. The English Press is fantastic.”

The Special One has also run into trouble with his own fans, as the San Siro crowd was jeering before Julio Cruz’s last-gasp winner over Udinese.

When the goal went in, Mourinho turned to the supporters behind him and put his finger to his lips, urging them to shut up. Did he expect this kind of reaction?

“Yes. I am Portuguese, not English. I lived and worked in England for three years and fortunately when I was at Porto we went for two whole seasons without a single home defeat, but if you draw a game that you should win 3-0 or win it at the last minute you will get criticised.

“I think that when one arrives in England it’s easy to fall in love with the situation because it is a different culture. But we are what we are and they are what they are.”

The Udinese win sent Inter top of the table, but the pressure is on to get a result away to Palermo this evening if they are to keep hold of that leadership status.

So much for "bashing" Mancio for no reason at all.

My point being that he delivered that Mancini comment as a response to the annoying journalists who keep asking about it. He didn't just do it arbitrarily to be mean.

But the thing is he always does it, he's compared himself to Wenger, Benitez and Ferguson before. Those questions are also posed to other managers. But other managers dont take the bait like he does.
