Juve prepare Clerc deal Wednesday 10 October, 2007
Lyon defender Francois Clerc is the latest stopper to be lined up by Juventus, with the Frenchman tipped to join the Bianconeri in January.
The Zebrette are currently looking to replace Jorge Andrade, who tore knee ligaments last month and is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
It is rumoured that Juve would be keen to use Tiago (pictured) in an exchange deal for Clerc after his poor start to the season, but this option has been denied by the French outfit.
“We don’t intend to re-sign Tiago – technically he is a great player, but not physically,” claimed President Jean Michel Aulas.
“We would be more interested in exchanging Clerc for Jean-Alain Boumsoung, but only at the end of the season.”
However, Clerc – who is only a reserve at Lyon – is not the only defender being chased by the Turin outfit.
The Old Lady’s sporting director Alessio Secco is also following Serbian international Branislav Ivanovic, as well as Portuguese youngster Manuel Da Costa.
Meanwhile, Alberto Zaccheroni – who was in charge at Juve’s city rivals Torino last term – has been offered a prestigious job at Dynamo Kiev.
The Ukrainian giants are currently looking for an experienced tactician after axing Anatoly Demyanenko. Zaccheroni is considering his options and could join them by the end of next week.
