I know, but he really held his own when he played for us. We've had a lot of issues in defence, so after Van Bronckhorst he seems the next best thing.

I'd like to give Emanuelson a shot, but he's become a midfielder it seems.
Braafheid put in an hilariously bad display earlier this season when Aberdeen drew 4-4 with Celtic.

He just looks like an idiot whenever I see him play.

In the WC qualifiers it was usually:

Stekelenburg
Van der Wiel - Heitinga - Mathijsen - Gio
Van Bommel - De Jong
Van Persie - Sneijder - Robben
Kuyt

Although I think we only started using Van der Wiel properly in the last few games, so before that it was Heitinga as RB. This defence is what I expect in SA though.

---

This season and players' positions for their clubs changed a bit though. Van Persie had an excellent year as a striker, so we tend to use Kuyt as a winger and him as CF, as Kuyt is more of a winger in Liverpool's 4-2-3-1 aswell. The wingers often switch positions aswell, but that should be our team, roughly.

Afellay used to get subbed on for one of the attacking mids, but he's been really impressive at PSV as a more deep lying playmaker, so in the last few games, he's come on for De Jong, basically making our midfield more creative, add alot more football. De Jong is like our Sissoko in a way.

Then there's Van der Vaart, who has had, amongst all those stars at Madrid, a pretty good season since Kaká has been injured alot. He usually gets subbed on for one of the attacking mids, or when the game allows it we add him and take De Jong off. So he's the more attacking option.

Elia usually gets some playing time for one of two wingers. Babel occasionally, but I doubt we'll see him very often.

Then there's Huntelaar, who rarely plays, since he doesn't for Milan either.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, if part of our squad, will probably be our supersub, but I guess it will all depend on how Van Persie recovers, otherwise we might even see him start as our striker.

There, a bit more than you asked for, but those are our usual suspects when it comes to starters and likely subs. I might have forgotten someone, but it's 2 am and I'm really tired, heading to bed.

You made a good choice though. :D

Ken what became of Ron Vlaar?:D
He'll probably go, but with Heitinga + Mathijsen doing there thing, he shouldn't get anywhere near a starting spot.

I can't say I've seen him play in Scotland yet, infact, I haven't seen him play any game for a club in quite a while, since he never really played at Bayern.

He was decent when he played for our NT, but the opponents were rather weak. Hard to judge, but he didn't leave a bad impression. That's all I can say about him right now, but I know he's not a world beater.

Really heading to bed now. " Ask Ken! " will return tomorrow, same time, same place. :p

what do you guys think of ben arfa??
He's been in fantastic form recently(in the past month or so) he has forced Deschamps to start him every week.

I do not think very highly of him though, as he is a very selfish player, and his decision making is suspect. He is insanely talented, but his football IQ is lacking, you just feel he never knows when to pass, when to dribble and when to shoot. He also has attitude problems ala Cassano. But again i have to stress, the kid is insanely talented, and when on his day he is a devastating player.

Bordeaux will win it for sure.
Did you see the table? Anything can happen and anyone can win it. Plus Bordeaux have been shit for a good two months now, they've been dropping points right and left. Marseille, Montpellier and Lyon are the form teams at the moment. Bordeaux need to pick up the pace if they were to win the Ligue.

Blanc won't miss the league title me thinks, and Bordeaux surely have been shit indeed crashing out the CL and losing the final but they still have a quality manager who can get it together in time IMO.

I think its hard to say who would win the league. I would give Bordeaux and Lyon a slight edge over the others, but with seven games remaining everything is possible.

Bordeaux are in fifth place at the moment btw, their next game is away to PSG, so i wouldn't be so sure if i were you.

Forza Montpellier.
Going for the underdog? :p

What a fairytale that will be though, in their first season after promotion they win the league. That would be something

Would be amazing to see after what Lyon spent in the summer, it would be a kick in the teeth for them. Whats happened to Bordeaux? they've dropped of the pace alot.

Did you see the table btw? Really exciting stuff, its going to go down to the last minute.

Bordeaux are being found out imo, more and more of the French teams are finding out that if you close Gourcuff down and limit the space he has while also paying attention to their constantly overlapping fullbacks, you can stop Bordeaux. They have been losing a lot of points at home in the past couple of months, and that has hurt them a lot imo.

Marseille in particular have been in great form and now have one game in hand, if they win it they'll be above the three teams occupying second place with 4 points.

I saw, it's really close. Marseille are top at the moment aren't they? Your explaination of Bordeaux is nearly mirroring what teams did to us minus the fullback part because we don't have any.
