Made even worse by the fact that tyres can be changed on the grid. Taking out any excitement left in this race. Is that a new rule? I didn't think you used to be able to do that.
It is not a new rule. A couple of years ago at Monaco, Vettel's tyres depleted and we had a similar situation, where the cars could change their tyres on the grid. Vettel was almost certainly going to be passed by Alonso and Button (?) in that race.
Same would have happened at Montreal when there was that flood in 2011.

Standard Monaco race. None of the front few are going to risk not finishing at all, the plucky guys like Checo and Sutil had a lot less to lose. Alonso was crap.
