But that's the same with practically every large club in Italy, Andy. Milan and Inter do it all the time.

The problem lies with the fact that Milan can scout and sign someone like Pato, and Inter can turn around and sign Santon, Balotelli, and Philippe Coutinho, whereas Juve has...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................still thinking.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................hold on......................................................................................................................................

God, I don't even know
That's the reluctance to sign young starlets again. You and I have been asking the management to address this for years, even when Moggi was here. That was one of my main beefs with him.

None of those players were loaned out.

Not to say this again for nth time, but playing time isn't always the most important thing in player development. I think we should try keeping some better talents for a change and allow them to stay at the club. They might only get some time in the Coppa, but at least they will feel like part of the club, training with the first team and their teammates to form an understanding.

If they want a chance to prove what they can do, let them stay. If they really want to be loaned, let them. We need to be acting more as a family instead of an impatient employer.
I don't agree with Juve's seemingly unthinking policy of loaning everyone.

However, I can understand why coaches are reluctant to field kids, even in relatively meaningless games, who haven't played against anyone other than other kids.

A reserve league seems by far the best solution.

Scotland did away with its reserve league last year, because it was decided that not enough clubs had big enough squads to justify it.

Now Aberdeen have several players aged 19 or 20 who are stuck in limbo; too old for the youth team, but not ready for the senior team. This is resulting in there being more loaning of players to the lower leagues that there used to be.

But that is my point.

Inter and Milan are able to scout and sign these young talents who are so good, so ready to play at a high level at such a young age that they don't have to be loaned out.

That's what I'm getting at.

When was the last time Juve scouted and signed a young player of such caliber?

You have a weird definition of legend, my friend.

Do you really think that Giovinco and Nedved have the same status?
I wasn't being serious..

But I do think that Giovinco could be our greatest youth product since like post-calciopoli. Beyond and above Marchisio. And he has a great chance (if he comes back) to become a Juventus legend in the future.

I would never forget when Ranieri played him on the wing for like 3 matches when Nedved was injured. we won 4-1 twice in a row against Roma and Bologna.

Del Piero some 15 years ago :frown:

Given our Primavera squads, I have to wonder if he's just not spouting sour grapes.
That's all, people need to read up on Castagnini, he gained his position deviously. He has also been around the South American scene for long enough and turned up nothing.

Totally spot on. Investing in the youth should have been done as soon as Calciopoli arrived. Hell, Moggi should have been buying younger talents as well, but he didn't.
Yeah Moggi did a poor job :analcanon:

18 years ago. But even still, he was not a product of the youth system.

I'm not saying that Pato and Balotelli were either, but Juve haven't even signed players of this magnitude since Del Piero
Players like Pato, Del Piero and Balotelli don't come along very often, but I hear your point. The fact of the matter is that up until recently Juventus were a team full of stars and no philosophy to bring through young players as anything other than bargaining chips.

Pato had already played some first team football in Brazil and Balotelli and Santon were more ready physically than most are at 17/18, so there was less need for them to be loaned.

There's no good answer for why Juve haven't signed a top class youngster for so long.

And for a team that prides itself on being one of their history of being one of the world's finest, it makes the situation even more baffling. Man U, Inter, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, they all have or have had their share of youth products and signings, save for Juventus.

Yep. Piacenza made a huge party when he left for Juve. The guy knows talents, in strips bars.

and now he's with Cosenza in Serie C.
