Give the Juventus board a chance:
A large section of the Juventus fans are boiling at the fact that Lippi might not be coming to Juventus, not to mention that the option of someone taking a temporary job till Mr Lippi finishes his vacation is not realistic nor even possible when talking about a club of Juventus size, that was probably a fantasy made by the Italian Press. But those fans should also realize and understand some facts before directing their anger at the current Juventus management. Juventus simply doesn't have a Russian millionaire like other teams to attract a set of world class players in just one season, so let's keep it real when we judge the current Juventus management.
Juventus aren't going to play in the Champions League and as said before the club doesn't have unlimited money to make up for handicaps such as these when they attempt to convince players who already have a starting place guaranteed in a Champions League team. As newly promoted Juventus; what is the club objective and what resources do the club have to achieve it...thats the real question.
Juventus resources are somehow limited, i don't know the numbers exactly but even if there is 100 million euros transfer budget available this season they won't be enough to meet the expectations of thousands of spoiled and unrealistic fans. And they won't be enough to compete with already accomplished world class squads like the current European champions Ac Milan and even the Italian champions Inter Milan. Even if the club have the amount of money that will secure the signature of four or five world class players like those fans are expecting the club won't be able to cover their wage demands, specially that they will ask for more money to make up for the fact that they won't have Champions League Football. Another thing that people should take into their consideration when they start judging the current management and compare their transfer plans and moves to the former disgraced director Lucciano Moggi transfer plans and moves is that Moggi had back doors and underground affairs and alot of influence that had nothing to do with managerial skills. That kind of power and connections gave him the ability to make miracles with the transfers, Secco and Blanc doesn't have that kind of power and influence and honestly i don't think it's something they should have. These guys are simply supposed to restore the great Juventus using limited resources in a very competitive market with handicaps like the fact that Juventus can't provide Champions League football in the shortest time possible, think their job is easy?.
Needless to say that even if the Juventus management manage to hire Lippi and buy a team of world beaters success will not be still guaranteed because success isn't just world class players and a world class coach, it requires hunger to win (which is something most already accomplished world class players lack) as well as the good atmosphere and of course understanding amongst the players and stability. These things are very hard to come when a club is supposed to buy four or five starters at one shot.
I am not saying that Juventus future is dark but all i am saying that the fans should calm down a bit and take a reality check before attacking every move of the current management. Not to mention that the current management are showing some positive signs like the fact that Gianluigi Buffon a man who talked about leaving the club few months ago is today tempted to stay, which means that he saw something that most of these fans didn't and it also means that the Juventus management is on the right track to restore the club to it's former success in the shortest time with all these problems surrounding them. Anyway back to the club objective, as we all agree and as mentioned officially by the club management Juventus objective is a champions league spot. In order to do that the club doesn't need to hire a Champions League winning tactician, because even with all these problems Juventus still rank better than clubs like Fiorentina and Lazio on terms of resources and with few tweaks we can say squad as well. These are mainly the two clubs who will be competing Juventus for that 4th Champions League spot as Ac Milan and Inter Milan as well as AS Roma will be playing for the Scudetto.
So when the Juventus management look at a coach they won't look much for a Champions League winning coach as much as they will look at a team builder who has a strong character to get the players to give their best. So from that point of view Ranieri or Arsene Wenger are exellent choices compared to a ''quick success'' coach who will most likely come splash the club money on a bunch of accomplished 30 years old stars and leave the team to rot after that. Not to mention that the other names linked to the job apart from Wenger and Lippi aren't managers who can coach a team of Juventus size in such critical time and none of them have the ability to develop or discover new talents like Lippi, Wenger or Ranieri.
All i am saying that the Juventus fans should keep their expectations realistic when they judge the current management because seriously this management have one of the most difficult tasks in football history. Challenging for the scudetto would be a great achievment on the board part but if it dosen't happen and the club just manage to get a Champions League spot it will still be mission accomplished for Juventus.
