Yeah, it can be great fun to build a great team from nothing. My favourite CM games were in CM01/02, with Oldham and Wolves. The former were in Division 2 (and in trouble) and had 11,000 or so seats when I took over. Wolves were better placed, but I had a couple of players who'd come out of the youth team on it, including a world class goalkeeper.

Yeah. The biggest problem for me was that I took over a club I knew absolutely nothing about, especially the players, so I didnt know who was good, who was bad, who to keep and who to sell.

It took me a year to finally figure out my players. Luckily I had 3 good players, one in defense and two in midfield who kept banging them in and I customised my tactics to them. My two central midfielders had more goals than all other players, including the attackers, combined. The in my second season I got promoted to C1B, and at the start of the 3rd season I decided to take a risk. I needed more income but had a fairly large wage bill. So I sold almost the entire first team, except my 3 best players, who were, luckily enough, on small contracts, kept only youth players and players with low contracts. I struggeled to avoid relegation for 2 seasons, but thanks to my tactics buring that time I managed to accumulate a fair bit of money. Took that money and bought the best players in C1, including the best two scorers, Elivis Abruscato and anothe player I cant remember now. Bought the midfielders with most assists, best defenders, etc. All in all, I bough perhaps 6 or 7 of the best players in C1 and C2. Elvis especially had a great season. In my 5th season I managed to get to the playoffs but I lost, and in the 6th I managed to get promoted to Serie B.

Aaaah, the good old days :touched:

i cant expand my stadium at monace, city blocks it.
the city blocks all my proposals to expand SPA's 30000 stadium for 10 years.. untill one day they finally gave in... but the attendance for the new 100 000 capacity stadium goes hardly above 30 000 even if i have been winning everything for decades... but i am not complaning about the money.. the 30 mil a year champs league money is basically my nett profit every year.. thanks to my personal salry cap of 50 000 a week... and i never buy more than i sell every season...

Yea, I had the same problem one time I coached Monaco. When I knew about this problem I quit the game :D

not that it bothers me really. im in 2014, have more than 60m pounds in the bank, and i barely buy any players. i think around 90% of my players come of free transfers. maybe it is fixed later in the game but in without any upgrades the transfer system is laughable.

what bothers me though is the salary limit. i cant offer more than 48k p/w and i'm 800k p/w under the limit. fucks.

    Version 5.0.1, 5.0.3, or 5.0.5?

Nah, jsut kidding. Just go to the player search screen, set the filter to search for transfer listed players, non eu and based in Italy. Sign one (or more) of them, and after that either agree a mutual termination, release them on a free transfer, or sell them to a club outside Italy.

After they're gone you'll keep the non eu spot they brought with them.

The thing is I cannot sign them, when it is time to sign them, the club blocks their arrival due to the unavailability of nonEU spots.

What do you mean? You should be able to sign non eu players that already play in italy?

Maybe the rules are different in Serie B, I dont know, this is the first I've heard of that problem.

His stats might not just be going up because of your training you know. Certain players start the game with the potential for their stats to improve, particularly young talents like Zlatan. In FM2005 I signed Wesley Sneijder for my Newcastle team and within half a season his stats had jumped from 15, 15, 15, 15, 13 and 12 to 17, 17, 17, 16, 15 and 14 in passing, free kicks, long shots, corners, crossing and dribbling respectively.

I'm glad that training seems to have more of an effect on player's stats in Fm2006 though.
