Okay, I have a problem, my assistant manager is a douche to the players, I want to either fire him or make him a coach instead. BUT, he won't take even a pay rise to be a coach, and the board blocks his transfer/firing.

sack him, but u shud always make sure u hire a good assist manager in the future, cuz they r ur eyes and ears.

lol im in 2011 after taking st albans my local team from the conference south aka 6th div and now the prem and i got canna from juve on a free, aswell as the likes of gattuso, lucho gonzalez,kompany,sorin,grosso on a free, who is my top goalscorer? rafa palladino who works well with volpato who i saved from the hands of wretched spurs and fulham respectivly.

as for your assist manager, if u hate him that much, download a save game editor, adjust his contract to a passed date, sorted, or alternativly hope u can sign another assist manager, i usually have 5

lol del piero is czech rep manager on my mates game as for mine im in 2011 with my local team st albans, and got cannavaro on a free despite being nearly 40
gattuso is doing well for me since his free move
as is grosso,sorin,lucho gonzalez, my best striker is def pallagol, 27 goals in 24 games, volpato has been slightly inconsistant, but still reliable.

well, after reaching season 2011 with a team(az alkmaar), the save game got busted n i had to repeat all over again.
is it better to start with a bad club or start with a good one?which one gets more recognition cuz i wanna get lippis job wen he retires in 2008? n which one more fun?

i was ADO den haag in holland, got them to the cl in their first season, after being expected to be relegated, then went on to win the cl the following season after a rocket from joao leonardo against meelan.

i love getting smaller teams to success, so far ive done it with:

hong kong - wc glory
ghana - african cup winners
st etienne - world dominationn
ADO den haag - ditto
st albans - from conference south aka 6th division to the prem, and currently top in my debut season in the epl

and juve - the usual win the lot

and not to forget italia - wc glory.
