Rab, I agree it's not about tricks and I hate that kind of players so I will not put myself into that group. Tell me 5 players, that play nowadays, his age, that have more potential. Don't compare him with Batistuta, Maradona and Zidane.

Just kids we see these days play.
pato, jovetic, kroos and ozil of the top of my head

EDIT: maybe add pedro. Ozil is not having as good of a season though.

Ibrahimovic was/is a prick but he made. It doesn't have to mean that bad attitude kills the potential. Balotelli is doing his best on the field, so that can make him a top striker. What happens outside doesn't mean much, in this case at least. He's slowly making top class striker Eto'o sit on the bench. A player who's worth 40mln euros and who was/is great.

Cassano is much worse than Balotelli IMO, at least 10 times worse attitude.
Thats actually far from the truth. Zlatan WAS a prick when he first came out when he was around 20. He has calmed down since then.

IMO, I think he still plays him most of the times because he's the only Italian in his team. We all know how much fun media, press, fans are making of Inter when they don't field any Italian player, Lippi hinted at that too few weeks ago.

Matrix isn't a player you can play unless you want to concede goals.
Santon isn't yet there.

That's how I honestly see this, he wants to play an Italian player from time to time and Balotelli out of those three is the best option of course.
No offense Rab, but just wow, no post can show the utter bias you have against him then this, to say Balotelli is being played because he is Italian, in a country that that is treating him in a awful way because of his skin colour, and you think the only reason an independent and headstrong coach like Mourinho is playing him is because he wants to appeal to these masses by playing one of the few Italian players there. Really ridicolous.

The only thing I can agree with you about is first he is not better then Pato, second its too soon say he is great or such like its done too often with young players, but by all acounts he is a very special talent and it would be the easiest prediction to make to say he will become great.

How many of us knew Del Piero at the age of 18? Few, not much. How many of us knew Totti at the age of 18? Few too and not much. Same goes with Zidane who wasn't known until he started playing couple of good games for Bordeaux when he was like what 23?? and so many other examples, those players were nothing to media, press, fans like Balotelli is now, does that mean anything?
It means that football wasn't even remotely close to being as heavily publicised as it is now back in the early 90s.

Look at how many people knew Ronaldo and Messi each at the age of 19 and they turned out to be the best two players on the planet.

Balotelli has both the ability and the physical attributes to become one of the top strikers in world football. It's up to him, and the way he's developed since his debut last season is impressive to say the least.

    Why ridiculous?

There's a reason why Mourinho has stated couple of times that Inter are in-need of Italian players. He stopped doing this lately after the Lippi issue when he refused to visit Inter.

If Mourinho thinks of Balotelli the same way people here do think about him, he wouldn't be thrown frozen out of the squad several times. But because he knows Inter can win and do well without him he benches him and throws him out of his squad due to many other reasons.

I can be ridiculous, but I see Massimo Moratti dying to have a decent Italian player on the pitch from time to time. Specially if there's a chance he will play for the NT.

Anyway, I've had enough of Balotelli's, I'm moving on.

No matter what his nationality is, Balotelli is amazing. I hate him, I really do but he's got the potential to become one of the best players Italy has ever had. He's extremely talented, how can you deny it Rab?

Cassano at 17 was toying with serie A defenders. I still remember Bari's games against lazio and Inter, where he alone totally owned they're players.

Balotelli right now is 2 years older than cassano back then, stronger physically, playing in a MUCH weaker league than Cassano's younger years in serie A. Point is, a 17 year old cassano was better than the current 19 year old Balotelli yet look at antonio now !

This league has a tendency to break talented players who are mentally retarded and those who have that "i don't care attitude". And balotelli falls into that category IMO.

How can I deny it or how can you exaggerate?

You really think he has any chance becoming like the likes of Baggio, Zola, Del Piero, Totti?

Based on what you make this conclusion? His age? Or his pony tricks? Because personally I haven't seen much of his contribution to Inter. I haven't seen him making any difference or deciding a game, players need to impress on consistent level and be a big part of their coaches. Balotelli is never going to be part of Mourinho's plan. That's a fact.

    Lets stop exaggerating for once.

And for the million times, no matter how mental retarded he is, Lippi would still pick him if he is like you people claim "A big thing, one of the best youngsters ever".

But because he can do very well without him and because he wont add much he will not select him.

You keep mentioning those pony tricks. It's stupid when a player does only that. But he does it perfectly and keeps doing his job.

You said he can't play as winger, yes he can, both sides and even behind the striker. 19yo and already over 50 matches. He was great in both Serie A and CL. He rapped us, Chelsea and many others.

And btw, I swear I laughed loud when I saw that rep

Are you actually implying that Pazzini and Quagliarella are better?

He's not calling up Cassano. But with him they'd play totally different and much better.

All good players. But none of them is as good as Mario. Pato is just next to him and the rest of the guys are behind, especially Kroos.
Aha, I also think he's better than Ronaldo-Del Piero-Zidane combined. And with some little luck he might beat Maradona and Pele. With a bit of luck.

Pato is a better player than Balotelli, lets be honest here. Balotelli though certainly has the potential to be something big I admit but he will never be the best Italy has ever had because he's to much of a loose cannon.
