Ranieri: 'Inter are bullies'
Sunday 8 November, 2009
Claudio Ranieri called Inter “bullies who systematically foul and must be punished,” while “Jose Mourinho always complains.”

The rivalry between these two tacticians has always been fairly vicious and it exploded after the 1-1 draw at San Siro.

“It was a fine Roma that played well and created many chances, but was also battered heavily,” snapped the Giallorossi boss on Sky Italia.

“I like physical football, but next time we need to come here with armour. Inter committed twice as many fouls as we did it was 26 to 13.”
When told that Mourinho had also criticised the referee, it sparked more anger from Ranieri.

“Mourinho complained? I expected that, he always complains. These were systematic, tactical, professional fouls.

“They are big bullies and if we allow them to carry on like this then they're going to do it. The referee has to privilege those who play football. This was a tactic and therefore has to be punished.”

Roma felt it particularly keenly, as Daniele De Rossi fractured his right cheekbone 30 minutes in.

“Thanks to [Patrick] Vieira, De Rossi needs surgery. He often jumps with his elbows raised, but in England he would get sent off for that.”

Mourinho also stated that Roma “did nothing to win” and accused them of playing negatively.

“With all the strikers he had at his disposal, he had fewer shots on target than we did,” replied Ranieri.

“If the first counter had gone well for us, he'd be crying right now. Inter poured forward and did very little with it.

“We wanted to go on the counter every time, but they were systematically knocking our players down to prevent the danger. When a team tries to move the ball to feet quickly and is knocked down every time with tactical fouls to stop us going forward, it becomes difficult.

“We played football and Inter did not. I am amazed Mourinho is complaining about the referee. It's astonishing!”

“I am very happy with the team spirit and the hunger to do well, plus the standard of the football. Obviously one always wants more. We tried to go on the counter and conclude them, but every single time we were systematically hacked down.”

Nonetheless, Ranieri insisted he does not dislike The Special One.

“I put Mourinho on his own level as a Coach and communicator. He's amazing because he turns everything around so he's always right.

“He is doing very well in Italy and bringing a lot of attention to Serie A, so anyone who does that makes me happy.

“It's not true I dislike him. Of course every now and then there is a bit of spice, he says I'm 70 and that I won a little cup, actually I won four and one of them was when he was only an assistant manager at Barcelona.”

Forza Ranieri! He may not have won but he took two points off the merda and if the refereeing hadn't been so one-sided a couple of their players might be suspended. Thats more than most sides can manage in Serie A good job Claudio.

Actually Balo is somewhat extraordinary case. He also acts like a brat when playing with Italy.

I think his attitude is something what could very well ruin his career. His still young, but he is growing a bad reputation, and the only way his heading if he keeps this up is down. Talent wise, many would be interested, head wise not so many. Needs to grow up really.
If he doesn't get his head on straight he could end up pulling a Cassano by pissing away a brilliant career because he can't control his temper and ending up the best player at Sampdoria. Balotelli is very good but I don't feel that he compares or ever will to an in form Cassano so he'd better get some discipline.

To be fair to Cassano he has turned around his act and is 26 so he still has time to feature for a top club and set the CL alight. Yet had he not had behavioral problems and been able to play regularly for a top team during his years rotting at Madrid I feel Cassano would be out of this world good.

Inter make fouls to prevent opponent doing counter attack. They are commit a lot of fouls and this is one of Mourinho tactics.. How can Vieira escape from being sent off after elbowing De Rossi? Last week Napoli's player didn't get red card too after elbowing Camo..

and still if the result is draw or lost for Inter, Mou will bemoan about how worse the referee is..

A player should only be sent off if the elbowing is deliberate.

Vieira's arm was a bit high, but it wasn't serious enough for it to be a red card. It should have been a yellow.

And Juve should learn from Inter. We should commit more fouls to stop opponents from counter attacking.

The reason why inter win usually because serie a teams are just scared, and get bullied by them. Intimidiation plays a big factor, and the current juve doesn't have yet, we use to the likes of barca, and man utd back in the days, now we get pushed around by the likes of palermo, napoli, and etc. We need to start pushing teams around and show some cojones. Hopefully when momo is fully fit, him and melo would start throwing their wieghts around and make other player think before trying to miss with us

Good luck seeing Balotelli called up to the adult NT squad.

:agree:

Roma got hacked to shreds today. We should learn from that. Finally -- something, provocation, that Poulsen should be well suited for.

The only team we've truly "bullied" this season was Sampdoria.

Momo and Melo were absolutely crunching motherfuckers in the first half, and made their presence known. We won the psychological battle early.

We need to utilise this more, esp against the upper mid table teams like Napoli, Genoa, Palermo etc

Inter yesterday were more than bullies to be honest. The played with utter roughness and the Ref was just soft. Ballo is a cheap bastard who should be thrown out any club. The guy can't football anymore, he is just a mad dog on the pitch waiting to kick and bite anyone who dares to even look at him.
